Male strap-toothed whales have two huge teeth growing out of their bottom jaw. These curl upwards and backwards, sometimes so much so that the whale can't open its beak properly.

Physical Description
Strap-toothed whales are large, with strong, dark and light markings and scarring. They have a long slender beak and a black face mask. The male's teeth grow to curve over the upper jaw.

Distribution
Strap-toothed whales live in temperate seas of the Southern Hemisphere.

Diet
They feed on squid.

Behaviour
Groups of 5-15 are typical.

Strap-toothed whales are classified as Data Deficient by the 2000 Red List.
