Tibetan sand fox
Vulpes ferrilata

These foxes are commonly trapped and their skins are used by Tibetans for hats in some areas.

Life span
The life span of the Tibetan sand fox is unknown.

Statistics
Body length: 60cm, Tail length: 30cm, Standing height: 30cm, Weight: 4-6kg.

Physical description
Tibetan sand foxes have a reddish brown back with an off-white underside.

Distribution
They live in Nepal and Tibet.

Habitat
Highlands and steppes are their preferred habitat.

Diet
Tibetan sand foxes feed on rabbits, rodents and flightless birds.

Behaviour
The behaviour of Tibetan sand foxes is unknown.

Reproduction
They have a gestation period of 51-53 days, after which they give birth to 3-6 cubs, which weigh 60-120g.
