Autumn in England couldn't have been more of a contrast to some of the locations we visited in October. South of the equator, it's hotter than hot usually about 45 degrees of very dry parching heat. October is known as "suicide month", everyone and everything is desperate for the rains to arrive.


 Carmine bee-eaterLeaving chilly Bristol behind, I left for the sweltering heat of the South Luangwa Valley in Zambia with cameraman Michael Richards. This dry season shoot hoped to capture some of the tension between animals dependant on the dwindling river. Read about a beautiful little bird that exploits these water levels dropping.
