The musician wren is a magical bird, with an unusual, beautiful song. It is often described in musical terms such as "flute-like" or as "reminiscent of the tuning up of an orchestra". However it is described, the combination of fast and slow, high then low phrases makes it highly memorable.

Like all wrens, the musician wren lives in the lower levels of its forest home, hopping around in the scrub, often stopping on logs or perching on the shoots of plants to observe its surroundings. In folk lore, its song is said to make other birds follow it about, but really it lives in family groups or small flocks.

It is a wary bird, but does omit a loud "kraa" noise when disturbed.
