There is perhaps no better way to get an insight into a culture than by attending its festivals. Typically staged by members of the local community, a festival is usually a celebration of some unique aspect of that culture.
From stick-fighting competitions in Ethiopia to Mardi Gras in Brazil, a festival is an expression of what matters to that community.
