Your challenge
Embark on the Blue Planet challenge to understand habitats and animal adaptation.

You can complete this mission in one of two ways.
Either play the Flash game and take a Journey to the Deep, or play Life Beneath the Waves.

Dive to the abyss Just for fun Journey into the deep
You are about to embark on an exploration of the oceans.

This is a voyage of discovery, which begins on a rocky beach, takes you into the sunlit shallows offshore and then journeys into ever deeper and darker water, until you reach the weird world of the abyss.

Your challenge is to explore as much of the ocean as possible, without losing any of your five lives. Are you ready to take the plunge?

The abyss quiz
There's another way to explore the oceans (and it doesn't require a plug-in).

Answer 20 questions and find out about life from the rocky shores to the deepest waters of the abyss.

As you go, you'll find out more about some of the perils facing sea-dwelling creatures and about some of the amazing adaptations they've developed to cope and thrive.

Play the game

10,000 years ago the ocean level was about 110m (330ft) lower than it is now.
