Introduction What you'll explore Master the challenge Take it further
Your challenge
To explore the deep ocean, collecting and analysing data from the alien world of the deep.

You can complete this mission in either of the two ways below.
You can play the Flash game and Dive to the Abyss, or you can play The Abyss Quiz.

Dive to the abyss Just for fun Dive to the abyss
You have been selected to lead an important dive mission, in which you must explore the deep sea in a submersible.

Your goal is to explore three main zones as you descend into the deep ocean: the twilight zone, the dark zone and the abyssal plain 4000m down.

On the way down, you must select a number of deep sea animals to bring back to the surface for closer analysis.

The abyss quiz
There’s another way to explore the deep sea (and it doesn't require a plug-in).

Answer 20 questions and find your way deeper into the underwater world of the planet.

As you go, you’ll find out more about the world from 200m below sea level right down to 6000m, and see what lives in this surprisingly diverse expanse of the world’s oceans.

Wrinkles on the human face are partly due to the diminishing amount of water in human tissue as the body ages

For both of these, you'll only be able to see your scorecard and get feedback if you have registered and logged in.
