Winter may seem like a quiet time for wildlife but those animals that are out and about at this time of year can sometimes do with a helping hand.
Put up a bird box – ready for spring or as a winter roost
Feed the birds – and help them out particularly during cold weather
Make a mammal table – somewhere to feed during the lean months
Leave a wild corner – resist the temptation to tidy up too much
Plant a hanging basket – for winter greenery and shelter for insects
Feed mammals – give animals a free meal during harsh weather
Get an allotment – if you don't have a garden of your own
Make a wood pile – to encourage small animals to the garden
