What was the idea behind Test Your Pet? What were we trying to find out?

Answers to those burning questions, and more, below...

 What was it all about?

It's often said that us Britons love our pets. Test Your Pet was all about you, the BBC audience, engaging with one of our natural history programmes in a new way. Instead of you sitting back and being told about animal behaviour, the roles were reversed - you, our audience, were challenged to find out the facts and report back to us.

We asked a team of animal behaviourists to devise a series of tests to uncover the answers to scores of questions such as 'What breed of dog has the highest IQ?', 'Exactly how long is a goldfish's memory?' and 'Are right-footed parrots better at talking?' Thousands of you responded.

We also conducted the largest ever survey of Britons and their pets.
