Animals on the Edge - Marine Turtles

Don't eat turtle soup or buy products made from turtle shell.
Fishing - campaign for fishing nets to be fitted with Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) and only buy prawns or shrimp with a Turtle-Safe certification.
Support ecotourism - responsible tourism can help to save some of the world's most endangered species by promoting the conservation of wildlife and important habitats and providing a source of income for local communities. This is especially important where turtles nest on or near tourist beaches.
If you are on holiday in turtle territory, don't walk on the beach at night, keep lights shaded and resist the temptation to approach the nests and the turtles.
Investigate wildlife charities and pressure groups you may like to support. One starting point is the BBC's Saving Planet Earth series.
Find out more about turtles. Read books, get in touch with conservation organisations and search the internet for information. The more informed you are, the more you will be able to help.
Draw attention to the plight of turtles. Tell your friends and family about the situation.
