There are plenty of easy ways of attracting birds to your garden. Check out our project ideas below.

If you need help identifying any avian visitors, then visit Wildfacts.
This fat-feeder for birds is simple and cheap to make.

Make a fat-feeder for birds 1. Cut a hole in the front of a one litre milk container. Scissors work best. The hole should be large enough to let a small bird enter.

2. Melt 250g of solid fat such as lard or dripping and mix with 3 mugfulls of bird seed and/or peanuts.

To avoid the possibility of small birds choking on the peanuts, break up the dry mixture in a food processor. Alternatively chop finely with a knife.

3. Spoon the mixture into the milk container and leave to harden.

4. Hang by the handle so that the front hangs forward to keep rain and large birds out.

This is ideal winter feeding especially if sunflower kernels are added.
