David is known by many as a music journalist, whose wit lit up the NME in the 80s and 90s.
But he's also carved out a hugely successful career as a comedy writer, who started out submitting gags to Spitting Image, and went on to write for the likes of The Fast Show, The Day Today, Brass Eye, Smack the Pony, Harry Hill's TV Burp and Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe.
He was also been responsible for The Junkies, which was the first ever internet sitcom, plus he's written books about The Beatles, The Clash and Beck, plus three Grumpy Old Men best-sellers.
He spent the 70s as a youth in Exmouth, where listening to David Bowie provided a glimpse of a more exciting world.
