Pop on Trial

Pop On Trial put five decades of popular music in the dock to find pop's most important, influential and entertaining decade.
And the winning decade is The 70s!
The votes are all in for pop's top 10s. See the top tens on the decade pages.
Watch pop from the 50s to the 90s.
Find out about the pop decades.

The Decades

In the 50s youth culture emerged from the shadow of WWII, and rocking around the clock became de rigueur.

Is it the 60s, when Pop was redefined by The Beatles and Motown, before getting serious and evolving into Rock?

The 70s must be in with a shout, with new sounds ranging from Glam to Funk and Prog Rock to Punk.

Or is it the 80s with the sound of Two-Tone, the breakout of Hip Hop, Indie, and the beginning of a Dance music revolution?

Could it possibly be the 90s, with Boy Bands, Girl Power, Britpop, Superstar DJs and Hip Hop's rise to world domination?
