Corinne Bailey Rae

Following a hiatus from music following the death of her husband, Corinne Bailey Rae returned with her second album, The Sea. This poignant album sees her explore more of her jazz upbringing and perhaps could earn her the 2010 Mercury Prize accolade.

Corrine derserves this award for making an album that is nto only a labour of passion but also a step in a new direction exploring all kinds of sounds.

We see Corinne reunite her love affair with the electric guitar and rocking out a bit more.

We see noir soul on 'Feels like the first time', sensual electronic soul with a phat funk beat on 'Closer', Tracks liek 'I Would Liek to Call It Beauty' give the record a rawer rockier edge reminiscent of her early days in Helen.

Diving for Hearts feautres the Leeds University Liturgical Choir providing haunting tones that last a lifetime.

Corinne has made a record, a well crafted work as opposed to a bunch of singles popped on a cd to make loads of cash like some of the other nominees.

This album should win due to its fresh approach to an often flunked genre breaking it down into an undefinable entity. This is the only record on the lsit with pure emotion expressed.
