The long-awaited debut from the St Albans' trio finally distils to tape some of the ferocious energy from their much lauded live shows. Eleven months from original release and tracks like Paris, Skeleton Boy and Jump In The Pool still sound fresh to the ear.

Matt is right about Friendly Fires' album still having legs, but let's not forget that a lot of these songs were already a year + old in their recorded versions by the time the album came out. Paris, Strobe and On Board came out in 2007 and Photobooth in 2006. So the fact they still sound so fresh is even more amazing.
This album is pretty much flawless and if it doesn't win people will look back and wonder who was bribing the Mercury panel in 2009.
