  I'm noit sure you understant the workings of tax here. It's not 60% of everything. They're only paying 60% of money they'd only otherwise spend on luxuries. They won't starve, sadly.

• Britain lands key EU foreign policy post 1:41pm on 20 Nov 2009 It just seems they were scared of the idea of having anyone with a strong personality in the position.
  
  Blair may be a liar, and as bad as Thatcher in terms of having a 10 year plan to run this country into the ground, but face it, the guy had personality.
  
  Sarko, Brown, Merkel and co are just scared that a powerful figure might make Europe work, and render them powerless (or less powerful, something they would fear just as much).
  
  Doesn't matter anyway, the blues will be in power soon. Eton Harrow, uber alles...

• Not the Queen's Speech 11:45am on 18 Nov 2009 Ministers insist that they are enacting the people's priorities. Their opponents insist, just as vehemently, that those ministers are electioneering. They may, of course, both be right.

• Plotters, quitters and fighters 09:26am on 17 Nov 2009 Please PLEASE can we have a moratorium on the following phrases- (Za)Nulabour, Liebour, (ad infinitum) toff, Clowneron, Dour Scot, etc. These names aren't big, clever or funny. They make me skim your posts, even when you may have a valid point or an interesting perspective, because that sort of name calling makes me assume you are an ignorant and ill informed party zombie (at least when it's without a semblance of originality, a surprising insult's always good fun!).
