In school your child will learn to listen and to apply their knowledge and understanding through the interrelated skills of performing, composing and appraising. They will:
Sing songs in unison and two parts
Perform and compose using their voices, tuned and untuned percussion and other instruments
Be encouraged to respond to music through movement, verbal comment and description and other art
Be expected to review their work and to make changes and improvements
Every child is unique and develops at his or her own pace. The information in BBC Parents' Music Room is for information and guidance only and should not be treated as a substitute for medical, legal or other professional advice.
