When you say about sound proofing, a friend of mine is a rapper. He uses a pair of his sister's tights over his microphone with a pop shield? I have a home studio, so i know what he's talking about, but, I'm not sure about a pair of tights, as they're very long for a condenser microphone, couldn't it start a fire? Also, i'm not very sure how to hang a quilt up on a wall or something, would you need a rail to hang it on? I'm confused as to how this would work.

Another really important tip I think was missed is that you need to be really, really well rehearsed before you do any serious recording. Masses of time can be wasted if the band can't stay completely locked together.

If you have a noisy Workstation (like i do) its annoying trying to get good vocal recordings in a small room. So what i have as a vocal recording setup is an old Slide projector stand, and on top of that a Thick (about 1 inch think) square foam pad, and on top of that, is a square metal basket which I've lined with the same foam I have that the basket is sitting on. Place your Microphone inside with your pop filter attached. I did some tests and found it reduced noise in my recordings by about 40-50%! AND it didn't cost me a lot too!
