Line-up and Artists: White Stripes

White Stripes played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.

White Stripes The White Stripes frequently amaze fans and critics alike with the sheer volume of noise these two beautiful musicians produce! Detroit duo Jack Gillis, (guitar & vocals) & Meg White, (drums) have been together since 1997 but didn't leap into the public eye until 2001's 'White Blood Cells' caused some critics to hail them as the saviours of rock 'n' roll.

Despite false rumours of the pair being brother and sister and then evidence of a marriage license and divorce certificate, they were never married. But they did go out with each other back in 1999. The last time the band played Glasto was in 2002 when they played a late afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage.

rock n roll solid.

White Stripes - breathtaking! They've both got PRESENCE and don't they rock??? Jack touches his cap to Hendrix and his hi-string - lo-string spats are electrifying. OK, Meg's no Gene Krupa but her foot on the bass pedal never wavers and confidently brings Jack back onto the beat. A perfect duo. - and ain't she jus' DELICIOUS?
Peter D, Oxford, England.

Does anyone know exactly what time The White Stripe's set will be shown on BBC3 and how long it will last? I can't record BBC3 so I'm getting a friend to do it for me, however I need to know what time it will be at. I think they are an amazing band and will be remember for generations. I have all five albums and I can't choose between them, but all are very distinct and well worth purchasing.
Marc, Belfast.

Hey Jane, I'll see your Arrrrrr! and raise you a Please please please come back to Sydney! I've seen them twice now and they're a revelation in this age of pre-packaged pop idols. Jack is that rarest of breeds - a charismatic STAR, in the way that Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix were. Hey, maybe he should change his name to Li'l Jimmy White? Here's hoping he's around for a lot longer than they were. Oh, and Meg rocks too. And Blue Orchid? Man, I love that song!! It's all good...
Kerri, Sydney, Oz

L.6 girl, Rhigos.

Still upset that this is their only confirmed UK show but it'll be the best show of the weekend. Jack White is the greatest thing around at the moment and its good to see the best band in the world headlining the best festival in the world.
Corbyn, Dover

THEY KICK ARSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alex T Wells

I love them! The latest album was great but seemed it didn't feature drum sounds as much as their past albums, which was a bit of disappointment because I always loved Meg's premitive & instinctive drum style. I just don't want Jack to go that far to make his mock-solo work under the name of White Stripes. anyway I'm sure they'll give a great performance on stage @ Glasto. can't wait!
Nakata, Yokohama

arrrrr i love the stripes. They rock! Seen them live a few times now, gutted i wont make glasto this year as im abroad.....PLEASE come to Asia Jack and meg!!!!!!!
