Line-up and Artists: The Tears
The Tears played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
This year will see Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler return to the Vale Of Avalon together for the first time since Suede’s legendary appearance back in 1993.
Their headline set on the second stage was the show where they finally proved the tag “best new band in Britain” was much more than just hype.
But, much more than that, as they debuted "Still Life" in the encore and provided the festival with a rare moment of beauty amidst the chaos, they proved that cutting edge alternative music could conquer the wide-open spaces – and Glastonbury bills have been all the better for it, ever since.
This year, their new venture The Tears have a similarly poised headline slot on The John Peel Stage and the assembled Beautiful Ones will be hoping that lightning does, indeed, strike twice (although not literally, please, weather gods).

It's so great that Bernard Butler and Brett Anderson is working together again.
It's not possible to get the Tears singles in Denmark - so I have boght the album and single on the net. And I think it's fantastic to listen to the music... As good as the old suede-stuff!

The new album sounds great. There are plenty of crowd pleasing tracks on there. You won't see a better guitarist than Sir Bernard at Glastonbury this year!!
Ryan Thomas, Norwich
Amazing album - it has been on repeat ever since I got it. Will be looking out for their set on tv (and wishing I was there to see it live !). Fabulous band !

The Tears - the most sexy, profound, ridiculous, heart-breaking, obscenely talented band you're ever likely to fall in love with. How fitting that they're headlining the Peel Tent- if anyone can provide a musical education at glasto this year, it's the Tears.
Thyn Whyte Duke, Newcastle
Brett and Bernard reunited - what can I say? Saw them at Wolverhampton and they rocked. People at Glastonbury will enjoy their set.
Sam, Leamington Spa
...big antication,...very disappointing tonight

why, oh why, did the BBC not show the whole Tears set last night, instead of endless Killers and White Stripes views and re-views???
I was just starting to really enjoy Tears, then they disappeared!!
Ann, Dundee

I absolutely LOVE the album. The overdone production is brilliant, and it's nice to see Brett & Bernard can make fun of their own pomposity while still writing beautifully moving songs. Can't wait for the follow up!

I've got the album and love it. I watched The Tears at glastonbury for the first time and was blown away. If you like "early Suede" go see The Tears, easily my favourite band that played the John Peel Stage!!
James, London

I was at The Tears set on Friday night and it was amazing - defintely one of the highlights of the weekend for me. The atmosphere was brilliant - a great way to headline the first night of the John Peel stage/tent.

The new album has some great songs, (apollo 13, imperfections) but a few fillers. A welcome return and much hope for the next lp.
