Line-up and Artists: Magic Numbers

Magic Numbers played on Saturday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.

The Magic Numbers If The Magic Numbers didn’t exist, then Michael Eavis would surely have to invent them.

Because, if ever there was a band genetically engineered to encapsulate Glasto’s legendary “vibe”, then surely it is these four cheery chaps and chapesses (two pairs of siblings, no less) whose very name will resonate with those saucer-eyed types hell-bent on constructing a few 'magic' 'numbers' of their own up in the green field.

Furthermore, their debut album fizzes with bittersweet, summer-tinged tunes in the grand tradition of Teenage Fanclub, Gram Parsons and, er, The Mamas & The Papas, while their uplifting gigs are already so legendary they were headlining London’s Forum before they’d even released a proper single.

At Glasto, on the John Peel Stage, expect them to go supernova – no rocket science required.

The Magic Numbers are the best new band I have heard in a long time and it takes a lot for me to like a band! Theri album is one of the best this year . They have wonderful melodies and harmonies. You couldn't ask for much more really!
Angela Maynes, Carluke

Watched them support Brian Wilson in Bristol last nite... Excellent! Each song is better than the last - leaving you with a near permanent smile. Well worth a look.

The Magic Numbers were my highlight of the IOW festival. They were amazed at the response they got from the crowd there so imagine what they'll be like at Glasto! They are brilliant, a perfect festival band.

We saw them supporting Brian Wilson at Bristol's Colston Hall last night; hardly an enviable task when you consider the level of support Brian and his band have in the West Country. They were, however, absolutely brilliant. They are highly accomplished musicians, Romeo is a first-class writer, the vocals were perfect and the songs are beautifully crafted. Their music dovetailed perfectly with Brian's set and provided the perfect starter for the main course. Go and see them!

Top Totti-I'm in love!!
Big lady lover

I saw them live at an intimate gig in Cardiff recently and they blew me away... their uber-nostalgic sounds and rugged vibes are the perfect formula for syncronised arm waving at glasto
Mikey - Cardiff

Having seen The Magic Numbers perform in reading and Oxford this year I can vouch for them being 'the real deal'. We all fell in love with them and their infectious bitter-sweet melodies. They have rapport and respect for their audience and they are obviously having fun up there. Romeo's relaxed consummate musicianship is an inspiration too. The guy has charisma - and hair!! Buy the album. See them live. They're totally the best band around at the moment.
Peter Driver - Reading

This band are so much fun. They're like Genetically Modified from all the great Glastonbury moments to be perfect for a sunny Avalon afternoon. Can't Wait.
SteveDave - Tring

The finest debut album I've heard in a decade. I won't be at Glasto, but I've already got my tickets for the tour in October by which time they will rule the world!
pseudograph, In the North

Saw them support Ed Harcourt in Bristol as well as Jimbobby. First time I can remember being gutted that Ed Harcourt was about to start as it meant they had to stop. Top band - I think they sound like a vamped up, more ecletic version of the beautiful south. Cracking lyrics, sweet melodies and an ethereal quality will float the boat as Glasto I'm sure!
Joss Godbold - Bristol

I first heard them on Later with Jules Holland and they were really good live. I noticed the audience were really into the songs when they performed
Andrew Lloyd - Lavendon

An absolute belter of a band! The whole album reminds me of BBQ's in summer! Every track makes you smile!
Tonicabs, Manchester

jimbobby East Sussex

First band ive seen in a long time to actually SMILE onstage- and thats saying something. Saw them a while back, and was uplisfted by such sweet melodies- i see them becoming the next big thing by the end of the year!
Seb Birmingham

Have just seen The Magic Numbers at the Isle of Wight Festival - they were awesome and had a good aura about them. I think they will fit in very well at Glastobury.
Hugh Jaynus, Southampton.

I saw these guys about a month ago in Cardiff, and they were neat, every song caught you along, a bit like a dream... A true live band, and the album is pretty cool too. Top notch!!
Alex, Gloucester

I saw them live about a month ago and absolutely loved them. Hym for Her is a fantasticly moving song. They lift you from tears to smiles in the twinkling of an eye.
Jollynolly Cardiff

This is the best glastonbury news so far... I've never smiled so much whilst watching a band in my life...
Ray Rooney. Shepton Mallet.
