Line-up and Artists: Interpol
Interpol played on Saturday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
The New York four piece have often been compared to The Strokes and other US garage rock bands but there's a greater depth to their sound. They've obviously been influenced by the likes of REM, Joy Division and The Cure but they still manage to sound fresh and new.
Sam Fogarino (drums), Daniel Kessler (guitar/vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass/keyboards) & Paul Banks (guitar/vocals) formed in 1998 and made their debut at Glastonbury in 2003.

amazing
not a festival band really, but the gig was absolutely fabulous
it was definitely worth it come all this way to see them

Interpol are Joy Divsion without the tunes and Ian Curtis's charisma. Very disappointing.

I saw Interpol play at the Louisiana a few years back. In fact Paul held open the pub door for me and my american friend from NY. She said they were something special and they really are. Carlos is a mega rock star. Can't get enough of them
Trinity Bristol
Absaloutly incredibly awesome band. The best band on the planet no doubt about it, they were phenominal live and always have been as a band. Hearing the instruments and vocals blend is the most perfect sound that could ever be made, legends.
Sam, Redditch
I love them!! Their music is like a cinematic journey into one's soul whilst projecting raw emotion into something beautiful. By far, my favorite band.
Camille, New York City usa
I am 43 and I have heard a lot of great bands since I first got into music in the 70s, Interpol absolutely blew me away when I heard them first I listen to Antics every week and it never fails to please, easily the best band I have heard in a long time .Arcade Fire from Canada check them out too .... there album Funeral is something else

i have been listening to both of Interpol's albums incessantly for almost a year, practically every day, and not once, do they bore me in any way. Their best tracks are: NARC, Take You On A Cruise, The New, PDA, Obstacle 1 and the elusive B-side to the Evil Single, Song Seven

I hope I can say something to sway you. Interpol are a cult, a totally hypnotic band with their own uber style identity. Just take a peek and you'll be hooked because they're gonna wrap you up tight and play with your brains that you came here tonight
Al Stourbridge
amazing, the next big thing? should be.
David, Doncaster
Interpol are in the same league as Radiohead. Both Antics & Turn on the bright lights are excellent albums you can listen to over & over again.
Marcus Angel, Aldershot
Falling in love with Interpol is way too easy. Every part of their smooth New York rock is brilliant, the best being the real best! There's no style like it, many influences, Joy Division per example, but nothing like it!
Johnno, Leicester
they reaaaaaalllllly good

Interpol are just incredible in every way. You fall in love with them just listening to them at home but seeing them live just makes u love them even more than u thought u could.they are amazing amazing amazing..wow
Rebecca, London
Interpol are the most refreshing band I have heard in a long time. Brilliant atomospheric music, and Paul Banks has one of the most interesting voices in music today. No bands are quite as cutting edge or as different as interpol even the more older post punk acts (Joy Division ect) dont have the same spine chilling vibe as interpol. A must see live act as they sound almost perfect and seem to push each other as far as they can go musically, mostly Carlos De the bassist and Sam the drummer constantly try to out-do each other. SEE THEM! Trust!
Ben, Bath
Definitely go and see Interpol as a top priority. after seeing them at Brixton a few weeks ago I can't say enough good things about them. They are probably nearer to genius than ANYONE else out there at the moment; some may say their stage presence is low as they don't "do much" but they create a real atmospehere and play their music WITHOUT FAULT. Unbelievable. But true. Enjoy...

Take You on a Cruise, C'mere - pure poetry, even more than the first album, gaining from more light and shade - much as I love the Killers, Honest Mistake etc., Interpol are in a different league - despite what some have said, the JD/Curtis and the Furs comparisons are entirely valid - also the best track on Coldplay's X&Y, Talk, is based not only on the wonderful Kraftwerk Computer Love but the guitar break intro is pure Interpol. 25 years on from JD, for a music obsessed 40 year old, this is truly essential listening...

Once in a while a band comes around that stands out clearly above the rest, they project cool and confidence which shows in their dark edgy music, excellent intertwined guitar riffs with crunching bass lines they are here to stay mesmerising.
Richard Birmingham
i went to see interpol when they came to bristol sadly i dont remeber much as i was ill and sitting @ the back trying not to faint :( i'm so glad i will have a chance to see them again :)
Jo, Bristol
From the NME tour a couple of years back I have tried to see Interpol as often as possible - and they dont dissapoint live. A great band. They seem to respond better to UK audiences as well - I went to NY to see them in November and they were good but the crowd was so quiet !
Graham Cardiff
ooooohhhhhhh i love this band
Their Glasto set is highly anticipated by me !
Oxford
Can't wait to see Interpol, both albums are brilliant, be interesting to see them live.
Dan, Cardiff
Interpol will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of Glastonbury. Do not miss! However, on the official Glastonbury site they are down on the Saturday night playlist, not Friday as shown here. Can anyone clear this up for me?
Christian, Staines, Middx
I'd given up on 'new' music till I discovered Interpol... beautiful soundscapes with a querky edge and Paul's lyrics are mesmerising at times. My faith is restored!
Jim, Walsall
Seen Interpol 4 times (I think) now and they are an awesome band. Live, they create such an amazing atmosphere, almost Joy Divison-esque in their intensity. They are (most likely) playing just when it's got dark which will suit their music impeccably. Go watch Interpol over whoever, and I MEAN whoever (even if it's New Order who can be ridiculously hit and miss live), you will not be disappointed.
Tom, Manchester
This is an album that is addictive as any drug! You cant get bored of the buzz this album gives, its got beautiful melodies and great vocals exactly when needed and the riffs that through this album constantly are just amazing.
The influences are obvious but they have added there own brand also which will i think be an influence on bands to follow, this is actually already happening i think personally (Secret Machines, Bloc Party etc....) THEY HAVE THE POWER!!!!
Gary Stewart, Perth
Interpol are my favourite band. The Best band in the world.
