Line-up and Artists: Ian Brown
Ian Brown played on Sunday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
2004's 'Solarized Tour' saw Ian Brown digging deep into his Stone Roses back catalogue for the first time as a solo artist, much to the delight of his euphoric fans.
Although not principally renowned for his live performances, the King Monkey's legendary status is now hard to dispute. With the Stone Roses' eponymous release regularly topping critic's polls as the greatest album of all time, four strong solo albums under his belt, and a Greatest Hits in the pipeline, Ian Brown's sure to receive a rapturous Glastonbury welcome three years after he last took to the festival stage.

Browny!!! Legend. Saw him once last year at Brixton and the year before at the Empire. To be honest his performance was average, but his presence and swagger is admirable. Long live the Monkey, and I just hope he sorts out the feud with Squire. How good would it be to see the Roses back making music. PC
Made of Stone.
King monkey will rule over all glastonbury this weekend, He is a living god
International and Continental
Andy, Cleethorpes

evie wolverhampton
I saw Ian Brown live on TV, it was painfull hearing Roses classics played by session musicians, if Ian cant get Squire, Mani & Reni back on the same stage he should leave the old stuff out.
Beeky, Sheffield
Saw him on Sunday night and he played five Stone Roses tunes - it was amazing. Nobody is as cool as Ian Brown. If you saw Basement Jaxx instead then you need a slap!
Noel, London
He is stooge of the media circus. I witnessed his antics and then vowed to miss him on stage last night. However i was there and he was brilliant!
Andrew, Aberdare
awesome. the man stole the show with the Roses classics. but whats with not coming out to play "I am the Reserection" as an oncore? we were a bit gutted
richy from brick lane
Ian Brown was transcendent last night. The old Roses hits were something special and even his tambourine playing was sublime. He would have been a far better follow up to Primal Scream on the Pyramid Stage: sparks flying between him and Mani would have capped Bobby Gillespie's frothing rant beautifully. Rock'N'Roll antics as they should be at Live festivals. Who wants to see a dance act headlining anyway? Push off to the dance tent and put your headphones on you losers!
Adam, London
Amazing set, roses which i've never heard a response from a crowd ever! and i've seen them all. His own stuff is also top quality.....but why did,nt he give us an encore! He still rocks, come on squire sat your sorry.
Jeremy Kent, Cardiff
Ian Brown, What rubbish.
Why spend thousands of pounds on a PA system and shout into a mike so that you can't hear what he's singing ?? Not that he can actually sing anyway....
Tim, Southampton
ive seen this guy live twice now and he just gets better that was a stunning performance last night cant wait to see him alot more this year.
les, leamington spa
I didn`t manage to get tickets to go to the festival, but on the tv, Ian Brown was by far the best act I saw live, what a performance!!!!
Becky, Stirling
Ian Brown is a top geeza in the same league as Liam Galagher and Morrissey. Legends
Paul ,Newport
We saw him headline Glasto! Buzzed us right out! So much so that when we got back to our tents we couldn't sleep....strangely!!! so we headed back into the crowds for a wander. We just got to the railtrack and heading right for Lost Vagueness was Ian Brown and his entourage! Amazing! Made me festy this year! Did anyone else see him about the site?
Tanya & Mik Kent
the roses were crap an he's crap. roses only half decent tune was "fools gold" an even tat weren't anything special. i sense the hype machine is outta control here
sean, liverpool
I saw Ian Brown's gig on Sunday night at Glastonbury - it was amazing!!! Great to hear some classic Roses songs coming out, a great way to end the festival. Everyone in the crowd was flying
Andy from Saltford
great performance on sunday
james, manc
The best way to end one of the best Glastonbury's for years!Cheers MR Monkey
Chris, Manchester
The man is a legend. Saw the king monkey at glastonbury for 1st time last time it really rained there. I think it was in the new bands tent. Got a huge buzz seeing the second coming.
He appears to have a real sence of just how small the universe really is.
Pete Bastable/ worthig
roses reform come on ian coolest man alive
fleck,wigan
Brown managed to turn what was a fantastic gig with roses classics and browns own classics into a shambles when he lost the head and walked off stage after faking an encore. His words 'you know those kids with the hoods causig all the trouble? look at me now' just before he left shows how short-sighted the guy is.
Paul,Dublin
I have seen IB at least twice a year every year since 97 &was lucky enough to see the Roses 3x I can honestly say he is better now than ever & this year both indoor&out he was magical But the Roses I feel will never reform sleeping dogs should b left to lie
Bear Droitwich Spa
Ian Brown is a true legend, he totally rocked glasto 2005!!! Go on lad!! RESPECT
Lisa, St Helens Merseyside
I was at glastonbury and Ian Brown was the highlight for me , he was crap at homelands in 2000 but this more than made up for it (sally cinamon ) top notch
karl bolton
OH MY GOD!!!!! Will IB ever cease to be the greatest musician on Earth??!!!!! His presence on stage is unrivalled!!!!! He is not only King Monkey but he is the King of Indie! He absolutely lit the place alive on Sunday night!!! The Roses tunes were massive and Golden Gaze jus' gets better each time you hear it!!! Long Live King Monkey
Jonny, Huddersfield
The monkey man is quite clearly a legend!! The best act to have graced the stage at this year's Glasto - was on top form!! Finger's crossed a Stone Roses reformation is on the way!!
Mr T, Stratford
what about the encore!!??
Evie, London
he IS the resurrection!
adam-carlisle
Uncle Ian!! we Adore you
Bono Mansfield
He just keeps churning out classics. Some solo tracks are as good as the first solo Roses album- bold statement, and more recent but no one seems to hardly notice? I must be really sad
Tom, Leicester/London
Like an idiot I missed the main man at Glastonbury. Has anyone got the footage?
Paul, Nottingham
Why you hatin on Ian Brown man? The Las?.... do me a favour (Beatles rip offs) Brown inhabits the same league reserved for such artists as Chris Martin -Richard Ashcroft- Dj Shadow -Damon Albarn to name but a few. Plus he has to be on of "the" most grounded people in the business....The Las ...LMAO!
Jmacc Darlington
He was great and even managed to sing really well!! Hearing live Stone Roses stuff for the first time ever was the best way to end a brilliant Glaso. Was hoping Mani may have played with him but I think time ran out on them. Great set Ian!!
Trina Bird, Bristol.
I'm glad the simian did a few roses songs it made my night but why did he end the set with a brainless rant? Still he was better than the LA's.. why were they there again?
Tommy Leiceser
