Line-up and Artists: Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.

Fatboy Slim Glastonbury just wouldn't be Glastonbury without the inimitable Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim. Over the years Norman's DJ sets have been woven in to the festival folklore with him popping up with his record box all over the place including Lost Vagueness and the Sunday slot on the Radio 1 soundsystem.

This year Fatboy Slim unleashes his brand of giant party tunes in the headline slot on the Other Stage on Friday night.

Kick starting his music career as bass player in the House Martins, Norman went on to record under the Pizzaman and Freak Power guises before settling as Fatboy Slim in 1996. Since then his family friendly dance music has won him millions of fans and annoyed the purists alike.

Comments on Fatboy Slim

georgia Oxford
awesome is not a big enough word thanks for the best memories.

Tom Leeds
The song he played with 'the female vocals' is One Phat Deeva - it samples Right Here Right Now. Watching the Fatboy set on TV was amazing, but no doubt it would have been even better had i been there to experience it with the glasses. His albums may have taken a turn for the worst, but hos performance, energy and ability are still as good as back in the 90's. We need Big Beach Boutique III

Nigel - Frome
Can anyone tell me the name of the track towards the end of the set. It features a riff from a track called Drivers Seat by Sniff N Tears.

Bertie Bob S - Kingswood , Kent
Absolutely banging, I went with a guy who does not do dance music - he does now!!

Alice, London
I sat 3 inches away from the tv screen when Fat Boy slim was on at Glastonbury. What a show !!!! A-mazing. I wish that I had been there but it was fabulous on tv. The lighting was such a clever idea.

Colly - Derry
Does anyone know who remixed the version of mory konte's - yeke yeke that he played? It was amazing.

d-roy - Leuven
was listening and now it's off line? Or is it my pc?

Richard, London
What was the big air guitar house track with the stumming breakdown and screaming in it that they showed on him play on BBC3? I loved it!

djhousemaster
Fatboy's Show was totaly off the wall!!! INSANE STUFF!....Its too bad the show is soo much better then his mixing and music selection...the music is too retro...not really up to date at all...Plus I think Norman's ego is getting the best of him....Hey Norm!...YOU CAN FOR SURE PLAY BETTER MUSIC! anyways the show kicked ass bigtime!

Marcus Fletcher, Teignmouth
Great tunage but I always listen to Fatboy with gritted teeth as he always f***s up the mix! I just DON'T understand HOW he is so popular. Fatboy slim is for the non clubbers who have no rhythm and no concept of beat matching. Some great tunes, he bought Waterman in at the beginning so well and it went off, he then ruined it as he just cut the end?!!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Talentless DJ relying on his tunes only!

Maggie, Tiverton
Met him at Glastonbury a few years ago - maybe he's a nice guy when he's straight(I couldn't comment), but he was just sticking the same soul records on over and over again until 6am, no mixing at all. But listening to the comments, maybe some things don't change..

Ryan - Louisiana
I have respect for Fatboy Slim. The amount of success he has had is a credit to the work he put in. The dance music scene is ultimately filled with people who love the music and love having a good time, which is exactly what he does in concert. The fact that he knows how to please the crowd is also fairly evident. For anyone who finds it entertaining to slander succcessful mainstream artists over the internet, get a life. Fatboy Slim is very talented in his own right, many people have realized this and made him popular. Maybe the reason that all of you self proclaimed underground DJ's aren't popular is because you can't recognize that you don't have talent.

Conor, Derry
i have a pair of technics signed by fatboyslim, he rules

John fae Aberdeen
was just wondering if anyone could list the songs that was played by fatboy in his set, only caught end of it, Cheers

Yumiko and Shige, Japan
Fatboy's remix technique is greaaaaaat! we really enjoyed his music like audience of Glast05!

gazblaz/clapham
norm, whens your next festival???

Hmmm... London
Oh dear. This is depressing. Why do people think it was good? The lights and graphics definately saved the day as the mixing was so poor. Anyone can get up there and play average tunes to mashed up people and they'll think it's great. The cold, sober light of my sofa proved it to be a poor performance. Norm.. give it up. And stop dancing like a drunk uncle! It's about time all you highly paid "Superstar" DJs moved over and let some real talent through. It makes my blood boil. I've had better nights dancing in my local bar.

daniel morecambe
i was listening to norman on my comp of his set on friday and i though its was brilliant one of the best ive heard from him always knows how to please the crowd

paul williams st.helens
a bit off mixing would of been nice afive year old kid could of done that set disapointed f.b.s fan

Dan Telford
Fat boy will be performing at Creamfields. cant wait I must admit before this performance i didnt think i liked him I will definitely catch him at Creamfields. Dont take him to seriously he plays good tunes to get you in the right spirit.

shaun nottingham
On Glastonbury last night Fatboy Slim played a song and merged in a song with a woman singing "You keep running in and out of my life" then I think it was something like "I can't understand why" Any 1 know the song ?? hmmmm let me see, OnePhatdeeva ?

Acidone 3 0 3 t i l l i d i e. Brighton (The home
There's something going on I cant explain...Fatboy slim is the ultimate...He is a party dj through and through and it might be a bit unfashionable to like him these days, but he really knows how to rock a party out. And what comes through in his sets, is his pasion for playing records. So many dj's just stand there and mix. Norman's first priority is getting drunk and dancing to your his own tunes and waving to the crowd. So who cares if his mixing sketchy at times??? If anyone's ever seen him at the concorde for boutique they know what im talking about. And he's a nice bloke to. LEGEND in my book!!!

Dan Hill, Northants
Unbelievable!! I would have loved to have been there. When he dropped Prodigy "Out Of Space" the man is a genius he just needs to leran how to mix the tracks now!!

Dave M, Colton, Leeds
female vocals are from an Adeva track he always plays this, I dont know whether it was a bootleg or an official release

BlurbVurt, Wrexham, North Wales
Missing the Glasto vibe this year (1 year old daughter)- But the Online/TV coverage is excellent - Made me laugh hearing 'The White Stripes' in the MIX. Loved it FatBoy!

brighton
cool set norm

Gareth - Chippenham
Wow the set he done in Glastonbury was pumping, i watched it live on the net.

Annalie Esher/Surrey
Absolutely brilliant!

Laura- preston
Please, please, please, can anybody tell me what song he remixed with right here right now, the woman was singin 'you keep running in and out of my life'...its soo gud i wanna know!

Lisa - London
Best moment of the whole Glasto show: when Fatboy played "To The Club" by Spankox - my favourite dance track!!!!

Rob - Leeds
FATBOY SLIM= AMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZIIIINNNNN IT WOS QUALITY...BYE

tim
Brilliant

Bob - Walsall
For anybody who doesn't know, the track after "Praise you" is by a band/guy called Olav Basoski and is called "Waterman" Great song wasn't it?!

Josh, Leeds
Fatboy Slim is the worst dance act i have ever heard. I did think the 3D idea was cracking but stil hes rubbish and Basement Jaxx....don't ask.

Sally, Derby
I'm too old and too sensible and too liking creature comforts (like a bed!) to go to Glastonbury, but he is good to do the housework to!

Gerry - Brighton
The "bits" of Fatboy I managed to catch were outstanding. Coverage was a little on the patchy side to say the least

mark alaska
watched it online fatboy slim u rock

Sam Beverley
Friday night was finished in style with Normans performance, i wasnt lucky enough to see it in the flesh, but religiously watched from my living room! Norman i would turn gay for you!

Joe, Oxford
What was the reggae song that played near the beginning of the set? cracking song.

Daymo - Bournemouth
Simply Awesome!

Matt Sheffield
You got to be a fan to like it!!

Alex Eachus, Nettlebed, Oxon
Great records, but would be nice if he could actually mix then together, as opposed to just cutting the fader from one 121" to another.

tim, hexham
is this really all the bbc can muster up along with a few pictures of radio one it girls messing around in puddles outside their luxury press camper vans?

scotty / stoke
On Glastonbury last night Fatboy Slim played a song and merged in a song with a woman singing "You keep running in and out of my life" then I think it was something like "I can't understand why" Any 1 know the song ??

Paul - Bath
anyone know what he mixed right here, right now with last night? was some female vocally song that i recognised but couldnt place please help!

jen, leeds
Hilarious! So happy I read this through! Was watching on telly last night and though it was me getting old and cynical thinking all the jumping around and arm waving was a bit ridiculous. Give the guy credit he loves what he does...and if the kids still like it....

kc devon
i think the amazing lights / graphics show saved the night for him

Charlotte - London
It was embarrasing to watch him, looked like a gay dad on acid! Is he going through a midlife crisis or something... Zoe must have been cringing in the wings watching some of the shelf stacking moves!

Dan Darc, Nottingham
Does anyone know what his playlist was?

Stuart, Colchester
It's true, white men can't dance (especially one's in their 40s. Ok he can get the crowd going by playing big tunes but who couldn't? Hype over quality I think!?!

copilot chelmsford
Talentless has-been. Skidding along on other people's talent

sunderland
good but not that good

blackburn
wooow, his friday night glastonbury performance was great!

heiko khoo london
For people to make such glorious comments about a human nonentity, indicates the vacuous nature of the pop music stupification industry and it's indoctrinees.

The Heptavorate (R.I.P) Staffs
There can`t be a dance club regular from about `98 onwards who hasn`t come up big time at one time or another when one of the boys tunes has kicked in....these days dunno but My God a couple of years ago!!! Picture it jumping up and down on the sofas with mates, giving it stacks....at only the THOUGHT of a tune being played later. Fatboy Slim v Armand Van Helden in boxing rings Stoke on Trent about 1999!!! K/O first round Norm!

creg from stoke
he rulez n should mix more rock tunes togetha

Andy - Swindon
the man is an absolute legend, one of the best sets of the year :)

Rich - Ottawa, Canada
i'm your fan. Like Judith Chamlers used to say "Wish you were here...?" Have Fun & Peace!

Fagus, Isle of Wight
Was that really only a look-a-like of Norman Cook on stage and a CD being played in his absence? Did anyone notice?

Marc- Liverpool
What in the Hell was with the glasses??? It looked crap

Wez, Hove.
After the dissapointing "Palookaville" its great to see Norm back at the top doing what he does best. Watched the performance on TV and was blown away by it. Great tunes, incredible stage show and loved the 3D smilies. Top work Norm!

Ash the brit from Canada
Maybe not for the purists out there, but nobody on the planet builds an atmosphere like the fatboy.

Dom, Reigate
Fatboy Slim is amazing, just a shame he doesn't really like his home town of reigate!

Phil - Bolton
The whole 'Fatboy Slim' thing is getting a bit old now, brings nothing new to the game

DJ Ade"JAM" - Redditch
love him or hate him, this guy knows how to make one hell of a party, the atmosphere when he plays is amazing, come on - norman cook is always gonna be the one to make ya dance ya pants

Not too impressed – London
Last night's performance was a bit sketchy... great lights and graphics, but for me, the mixing was a bit off.

Kevin London
Enormously overated as musician/dj. His big tunes from late nineties seem parochial and dated. However his persona and enthusiasm are to be applauded as is his appetite for A's.

Clare W, Hither Green
Fat Boy Slim Rocks

mary emery newcastle staffs
Just sensational

Graham, Falkirk
For God's sake give it up Norman. It was like watching my dad dancing at a wedding.

dave mac merseyside
simple outstanding lives up to the fatboy slim i love !!!!!!!!! how can i get the session on cd so i can listen over and over thanks?!!!!

GK - Derbyshire
OK His albums may not stand up, but stick him on stage at Glastonbury in front of 50,000 people and he rocks.....period. ;)
