Line-up and Artists: Elvis Costello
Elvis Costello played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
Maybe not as well-known as the Elvis the prolific, and alternatively known as, Declan MacManus has still made his mark on musical history. Somewhat of a chameleon his music career began in punk-fuelled 1977 with his Stiff label debut 'My Aim Is True'.
Collaborations have seen him work with lounge god Burt Bacharach and the contemporary classical Brodsky Quartet.

Funny how Oliver's Army, a song written nearly 30 years ago, sounds just as fresh and RELEVANT to today. Blair, were you listening? And Needletime... ho ho ho

I've been a fan since aged 11 and I'm 40 now! I remember seeing him at the Cat's Whiskers in Streatham,The Royal ALbert Hall and Hammersmith Odeon. I still have an un played copy of the Limited Edition single of 'Pills and Soap'somewhere! I have some favourites as do we all and I don't like everything he's done but there's no one I'd prefer to listen to.

His performance at the Hay Festival was superb. Should be highlight of Glastonbery.

I am so glad he and the Imposters are playing (have they just been added?). Just seen them recently in Nottingham and they were superb, almost beyond belief (ho ho)! I hope this time he deems to have some of his set broadcast on TV or radio, coz I am not going to be at Glasto. Check them out. Yes, I also take to task comments above suggesting our Real alive Elvis is NOT SO PROLIFIC.....what a load of old tosh! Check the record shop racks matey!!
Andrew Mainman, Nottingham, England.
am i missing something... not prolific Elvis.... hmm the 20 odd albums... collaborations with everyone from Paul McCartney to Burt Bacharat... from Charlie Mingus to the Brodsky quartet. The ballet, the opera, the Grammy and the Oscar nominations... Has sung with Tony Bennet, Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris...
absolutley a slacker compared to the real Elvis
PS... also shared a guitarist with the real elvis :-)

Almost a thirty year career recording with Paul McCartney, Burt Bacharach, The Brodsky Quartet, Sophie Von Otter and others...The man is possibly the best singer/songwriter to come out of the UK in the last 30 years.
Michael Levy, Barnet, Herts.
A true legend. His range of music is awsome and a magnificent performer. I wish I was there to watch it. I hope the Beeb have it online.
