Line-up and Artists: Editors

Editors played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.

Editors Birmingham quartet Editors threaten to do for the city what Franz Ferdinand have done for Glasgow, The Killers for Las Vegas and Keane managed for, erm, Battle. That is, put Brum firmly back on the guitar pop map and banish memories of UB40 and Slade forever.

The band comprise of Tom Smith (vocals/guitars), Chris Urbanowicz (guitars), Russell Leetch (bass) and Ed Lay (drums) and were formed at the University of Stafford. So far they've released just two fabulous singles - "Bullets" and "Munich". The latest, "Blood", is expected to go top ten. Their album is due in the summer.

I agree with Thomas - Go and see them live! Then you'll "get it". I've seen hundred of bands live over the years and it takes a lot to impress me now - they did it within the first song.
Tracey, London

George is right. I havn't even heard their music but I can tell from the hype and comparisons that they another tired Joy Division covers band. Where are all the good bands? This another example of the industry hyping a band because there is no one out there to fill the current void.
Rod, Wolves

I love Them. They are so awesome.
Diego, Lima, Peru.

Wakey Wakey GEORGE!!!! great band, infact its... NUWAVEdistortogarage at its finest & SOME - I've even ivented a new pigeon whole of muzik - a new style waheaaayy!
Mark - Carlisle

They totally ditched our ball booking at the last minute and left us stranded. I don't care what they sound like, I'm not impressed. Maybe they're getting too big for their boots?
Suzy, Cambridge

George, you must have cotton wool between your ears and no soul in your heart. Editors make you happy and sad at the same time as the hair on your arms standing on end. They are music of 2005 and far beyond.
Roz, Nottingham

Can't wait to see them at T In The Park, great music and a brilliant voice. Maybe a bit too much like rockier version of Joy Division, but still a really good band
Robbie, Airdrie

I'm left wondering what George means by 'all the same stuff'? Perhaps he could offer some comparisons. I think this is one of the best new bands in the last decade! Go and see them live and listen to their singles, I haven't heard many bands like them at the moment unless you're comparing to greats like U2 or Interpol, and even then Editors offer something refreshing. Rock/Indie music in 2005 is the best it has been this decade! Maybe George is an R&B fan, then he might be correct!
Thomas

This band are the future.... "Blood" WILL go Tope Ten.... "The Back Room" is released two weeks later.... enjoy the splendour that is Editors....

george, ok, these guys are newcomers, and yet still have talent burning from their ears. they have so many good songs, their entire album could be made up from b-sides from their three excellent singles 'bullets', 'blood' and even 'munich' which is still an amazing song, but makes me think that they have better songs than that and let's not decide on comments until they have released several albums before we try to compare them to older bands, like you are so dying to do 2005 is the year of editors, and they are going to take the music industry, the country and the world by storm
samuel draper, london

what is it with this band. its all the same stuff. just new faces. can't people hear they sound just like all hte other crap that is out there. music in 2005 is so poor.
george
