Line-up and Artists: Doves
Doves played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
One of the UK's leading bands who have achieved the rare feat of getting better and better with each of their three albums. Passionate about the North of England their music is far from grim.
The Manchester trio comprise of Jimi Goodwin (bass/vocals) & twin brothers Jez (guitar) & Andy Williams (drums) - all three were previously known as Sub Sub, who had a top 3 hit in 1993 with "Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)"
Their recent album, 'Some Cities', has been hailed as album of the year.

Doves are fantastic. I love all three albums, but don't forget the other album 'Lost Sides', double album, all mixed up versions from the 1st two albums, a must have for Doves fans. Listen for the funked up version of 'Last Broadcast'.

I like them

I've been into Doves since Lost Souls was first out and their albums seldom leave my various CD players - their three albums were the first onto my new MP3 player. Live, they are just the most fabulous Festival sound, their big field anthem ringing out epitomise summer and the Indie spirit

Would have loved to see Doves at Glastonbury this year, but living in Sydney is a problem. God bless the BBC and webcasts!! If you haven't seen them before and was thinking of leaving the Pyramid Stage for another, DON'T! You will not be disappointed. Luckily for me, they are playing in Sydney in July which I am really looking forward to. Fingers crossed they finish with Spaceface again. I could do with a good bop!
David Williams, Sydney (ex-Manchester)

The Doves have truely got to be one of my favourite bands ever. I saw them at the Pilton Party a few years ago and was blown away by how good they are live. I'm just so gutted that i won't get to see them step onto the Pyramid Stage this year. Crying shame

Couldn't agree more - great to see Doves on the Pyramid bill where they belong but down on the card behind The Killers and White Stripes?? The world has truly gone mad!
Pete, Stourbridge

Doves are head, shoulders, elbows and fingers above everybody around at the moment. Saw them recently live and they can NOT be bettered!
Colm, Dublin Ireland
They'll definitely be the highlight for me. I have all three albums & they just keep getting better. I agree with Chris, they should be a headline act.
Andrea, Darlington
Doves truly are the best band around at the moment, they never cease to amaze me! Some Cities is a perfect follow on from Last Broadcast- cannot wait to see them at Glasto!
Marie London
I thought their first album was amazing & couldn't be bettered. Thier latest one is nearly as good & is definitely the album of the year for me so far. "Walk in Fire" live on the Pyramid will be spectacular. I feel they deserve to headline though with so many fantastic songs in their armoury. I can't wait to see them, definitely the pick of the festival bands for me.
Chris, Darlington
