Line-up and Artists: Bloc Party
Bloc Party played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
Bloc Party have slotted nicely into the space left by Franz Ferdinand while they work on their hotly anticipated second album as the UK's premier punk-art collective.
Without doubt one of the biggest bands of 2005, Bloc Party are still walking tall from their debut album 'Silent Alarm', plus Kele's recent vocals on the Chemical Brother's track 'Believe' has added an extra dimension to their ever growing appeal.

Great sound, great drummer!!! A ryhtm you keep in your mind all day...!!! Their sound is really good, but the thing is that the singer tries to sing a bit like the lead singer of 'Blur'(& also 'Gorillaz'), but he sings well though. I like the energy they bring with their music!!!
Tom, France
I head banquet on the radio and its just such an amazing song. Little thoughts gives me a feel good vibe everytime i hear, bloc party have a sound we've been missing in this country for a long time.
karen, london
Bloc Party are just amazing. They have a great guitar line played by the one and only Russell that locks in perfectly with Gordy's amazing bass playing, Kele's magnificent voice and Matt's exceptional drumline. They are one of the best bands I have ever heard.
Jingjing, Tampa Bay
'So Here We Are' was awesome... what a tune! Top band!

i love them so much. i'm addicted to their music, every one of their songs is amazing. they are something special, unique. silent alarm is so calming, relaxing. it makes me feel so content with everything at that moment in time. i just can't wait to hear them play their music live at Reading and in Cardiff later this year :D wooo hooo, go bloc party!!

Bloc Party have the potential to fill that gap of contempory. They have everything to do it. All you have to do is open up your ears and let them in! Surely a modern Talking Heads.
Johnno, Leicester

Bloc party are in a different league to the commercial on-the-bandwagon middle of the road guitar led unimaginitive blah blah, blindly thrown out by such bands as the Kaiser Cheifs.
Bloc party dont care about image - just look at 'em, they're still wearing the same clothes after 3 years, no poncy suits, no poncy hair styles, no nicely groomed and there-there pretentious nonsence.
BLOC PARTY ARE KEEPIN' MUSIC REAL FOR US.
Their album is ruling. Their live act is hair raising.
All I can ask of you is, OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE THE POTENTIAL!!
chris, Reading
Bloc Party are such a great band they have such a fresh sound, a real rawness to their guitar playing, despite its overplay I still get goosebumps everytime I hear Banquet. I don't know why they are compared to the Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party Outclass them by miles.
I'm sure they'll do big things at Glasto
Dan, London
if there were eva going to be big bands this is one hell of a debut, silent alarm listened to it 5times when i got it and many more since then
nick magor
bloc party are destorying rock and roll, theyre all about image. the lead singer has a terrible voice and their songs range from average to insultingly band. saw them at the nme awards tour and they were the worst band there by a distance, they had no character and the songs really needed bigging up some how because they're so flat. the press coverage they're getting has made me sick. thank god the arctic monkeys are coming along with amazing tunes to steal all their fans and fame
Richard, Loughborough

Oh you lucky people! Bloc Party will blow everyone at Glasto away. I have seen them twice already and will see them twice again before the year is out. They are the best giging band I have seen. They are so energetic and tight at the same time. Prepare to be amazed!
Dave, Holloway

bloc party hit me early last year when they were largly unknown, so for them now to be at glasto with a lot of expectancy i hope they come out of glasto weekend as the heroes and can add to their ever growing reputataion.

Will, Herts
bloc party are something else. have a great sound which is new on the scene i am a massive fan already. they are a great band live and the atmosphere at their gigs is unbelievable. going to see them play again soon and without doubt im sure i will enjoy it as much as the last time. great debut album and also the imports form japan and Australia have some great songs on also. there slogan is "making life seem tolerable since 1982" since i heard of them on jools holland last year after hearing like eating glass and helicopter they have made my life better with the music they play.again since first hearing them on jools holland i have been a massive fan and i will remain so i hope they continue to grow and grow as i believe they are certian for great things.
Lee, Southampton
Saw them support Interpol and Parke Davis, they took a while to warm up and the overall performance was reserved...intersted in seeing how they act in front of a festival crowd.
