Line-up and Artists: Beautiful South
Beautiful South played on Sunday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
Evolving from the ashes of the Housemartins, Beautiful South are not your typical music industry band. More at home down their local than on a video shoot, Paul Heaton, Dave Hemingway and Dave Rotheray pen a poignant lyric to a pretty tune. Female vocalists have come and gone but their acerbic wit remains.

Absolute mustard, the most underated UK band in the last 20 years, great music, fantastic lyrics, amazing voice. Amazing to see how Norman (Quenten) Cook and Paul Heaton have gone in such different directions since the Housemartins. Love em both but, I would rather follow Paul!!!

Beautiful South write the most amazing lyrics, so good to see them back at a festival, bring on a tour...

My mum (Deb) loves beatiful South and went to see them not long ago and said they were great!

The world's greatest, and probably most under-rated, band

Love TBS - fantastic that they are at Glastonbury! They are the best!
Patrick, Oslo (Norway)
They haven't been the same since Briana Corrigan left. Paul Heaton's vocals are still tops and the lyrics are fab, but they just miss the alternative, kooky sound that she brought. Nick Slater, I suggest a thesaurus for your next birthday: alternatives to "incredibly" include very, rather, noticeably and particularly.

Heaton is god

Why on earth are they on the Acoustic stage?
They should be on the main stage like they were last time.

Great to see Beatiful South back in the limelight - whare have they been hiding?
Phil, Leeds
Heaton and Rotheray are major British musicians mostly ignored by the industry. If anyone deserved a lifetime achievement award its these guys. Still as strong today as they ever were. Heaton has a unique voice and he can still dance!
SCOTT, ARUNDEL
ONE OF THE BEST BRITISH BAND OF ALL TIME.
Nick Slater, Dudley
The Beautiful South are incredibly underrated. Some of there recent work has gone incredibly unnoticed, particulary their 2003 album "Gaze". The band fuses catchy melodies with incredibly poinient lyrics. Many of the lyrics written in 1989 (when the band began) are still incredibly relivent today.
Mo, Merstham
I think the fact that they still have hair is something to sing about!
Nick Gosport, Hampshire
The Beautiful South have always been much loved in Britain. They have charismatically climbed the charts with their poignant, politcal lyrics.
I would like to point out however, Dave Hemingway played no part in the songwriting!
