Line-up and Artists: Babyshambles
Babyshambles played on Friday. Check our line-up & artists section to find out which stage and who else played.
To say that Pete Doherty's reputation precedes this band would be an understatement of epic proportions. In recent months the band have had to cancel several major performances for various Pete related reasons; however the future is looking a little more positive for Babyshambles.
With the imminent release of their debut album and scheduled performances at most of the major UK festivals, Babyshambles are set to have a busy summer.
The band are playing twice at this year's event. On the Other Stage on Friday and at the Left Field on Saturday.

telford
they are good but the guy from telford who wrote the comment in text language above is a tool
manchester
I agree with the guy from manchester
Leeds
I agree, the bloke from telford is a tool. Babyshambles are good, but don't taint the message by saying it in text language. Tsk!
Swindon
pete is a legend
london
A band loved by the readers of the Sun and Heat...It's a shame that the music does not live up to the hype of a straw hat, Oliver Twist voice and a girlfriend from Croydon. Now that he's off the skag the media vultures will not be interested...and you lot won't be soon.
Parke Davies, South London
Poor old Parke's passe opinion. Parke's only perk is a pretentious put-downs of Pete...
Simon. Tunbridge Wells
Simon...Tunbridge Wells, lol, I'd recommend a pseudonym in future. Your good at rhymes, you could incorporate Pete in a little rhyme about your new name...use the word Bow Bells in it, or if you want the Cranbrook Windmill. A friend of mine (Rachel Arnold) was gonna buy the rights to cover Pete's funeral, but we saw that he was cleaning up and had to move to another project...which you can see daily at 10pm on I*V.x
Parke Davies, South London
Babyshambles are a big steamy pot of feltch
jojo london
over-rated rubbish
steve, York
Parke Davis is right, i recently purchased a straw hat and was disappointed to say the least.
Parke Davis fan, London.
How long before he expires and then we have to worship him like Hendrix,Cobain,Moon, etc,he's nowhere near that class
widgy/oxford
don't agree with parke d, the music is brilliant, and if you'd ever seen them live you wouldn't be saying that. true, they aren't the libertines, it aint the same with barat, but its still bloody good music
sam, london
pete is the only rock star left in the world. we need him to be a f*** up to save ourselves.
not from telford thank god
The Libertines are better <3
Sarah New York
Overated rubbish. Can't sing, can't write. I bet he doesn't even turn up. The bloke is like a spoilt little kid.
harry, maidenhead
I have seen them live Sam, at the Scala last year. His entourage were interesting, they were selling tickets outside the gig to attend an after show party with Pete...they smelt stale and had wet roll ups dangling from their mouths...mmmmmm
The performance was pitiful, and the fact that Dot Allison helped proceedings with her little xylophone made me laugh. People in the crowd were debating whether this was his new girl friend...smack addict, sex life...silly people!
Parke Davis, South London
Lyrically, Doherty is spot on. Shame he doesn't have Carl, Jon and Gary to carry him these days. I'm still hoping for a reunion.
The prat who thinks Pete should stay a junkie to save the fans deserves a smack in the mouth.
Rich, EG
Don't care much for his lifestyle but you can't deny his a true poet of our time.Long live the Libertines
John - Swansea
Babyscrambles...it's gonna be hot there.
Chad, Echo Park, Los Angeles
Peter is a genius and embarrasses over-rated fools like the Gallaghers.
Although saying that Babyshambles are going to be hard pressed to beat the first Libertines album.
In a World where people ie. Tony Blair fake tan, the pasty and not bothered Peter Doherty is a god.
We need more rock and roll like this rather than these fag, 'organised' bands eg Franz Ferdinand.
Babayshambles if not already will be the biggest band in England.
Sam, Manchester
babyshambles ROCK and i will deffinatly be there i just hope pete turns up this year i mean super grass wear great but i would have prefered the libertines
Jo, Bristol
Pete Doherty is what rock n roll is all about....I will be at the front at Glastonbury..xx
Lynsey Cox, Solihull
A lot of Libertines fans were dissapointed and his early performances such as the Brum medicine factory, didnt do him justice. Its nice to see him off the crack and playing the old shambles stuff with some new tunes and I hope his glastonbury performances live up to this mans potential.
J, Tunbridge Wells
can the guy from telford comment back and retract his awful statement. It is an embarrassment and does not deserve to be linked to pete doherty.
ipswich
Pete is a legand
Sarah, Forth
i find pete doherty a genius to the highest degree as a poet/song writer, singer and musician if there were chance i would shake his hand
nick, magor
better than the beatles...
pete
Pete's brilliant, but I wish he'd hook back up with Carl and the other Libertines.
Grant Los Angeles
Good times
Alex Hood, Dartford
Note to Widgy in Oxford- yes take your point, but Keith Moon? The Who must be The most over-rated band in the world. Surely. & this won't be popular but I thought Kurt wasn't much cop either. Jimi was great tho! & I feel sorry for Telford but have to concur- a tool
Dug, Tokyo
Hear, Hear, Sarah. Babyshambles are a good band, but The Libertines were far better than Pete's circus-crack band.
Robbie, Airdrie
be surprised if pete turns up to be honest , missed 3 libs shows last year at all 3 festivals I went to due to his skag habit. I lost patience after that and so did the rest of the band , babyshambles just sound pretty less than average these days
carl barat - london
petes better off with out all the politics of the libertines. now he is incharge of his own band, people will see just how good an artist he really is. I never saw the libertines live, but they can't have been that much better than babyshambles, they were amazing and really got the crowd going mad.
Greg / Derby
Pete is SO talented, he is an amazing lyricist and he's just so vunerable and cute!
Scotland
Poop. Big Poop.
Helmut, Helmutland
hello......sorry but some **** called 'pete' simply put 'better than the beatles'. no, mate, just no,
ben, leeds
good tunes, filthy smack head!
David Allison, Solihull
The conversation about the guy from Telford was more interesting...
Ed/London
I do think babyshambles are fantastic and that pete is a good rock star but would he be such a 'legend' if he lived his life like chris martin...noo he needs to be careful that the music doesn't get forgotton!!
Helen, Leeds
I agree with the guy who says Pete should stay a junkie. All poets through history have been junkies. It makes him more creative. It's horses for courses, it works for him, I bet his music when he's clean is not a patch on his smacked out work.
Rod, Wolves
I think their complete bollox, all this talk about being a true rock'n'roll band with attitude is all they have...no music skills. Its all just PR spin to get the band in the media anyway, (I know I,ve been there!)
Oldy, Bristol
pete is a tit, i agree with liam, smack heads deserve slaps. libertines were ok, babyshambles are very average. get a life losers.....
mike, leeds
A few years in the army and a some pies would sort him out - I have seen more meat on a good friday!
Quite a shame isnt it? He used to be interesting before the fame years.
Pope Benedict XVI - Vatican City
Carl Barat in London??? was it really you??? if it is i would like to say you are a legend and a true god!!!! and i cant wait for your solo stuff but if its not then who ever wrote that pretending to be carl barat is a f**king flint!!!!
any way....babyshambles are great but at times they can be a bit of a shambles.... love pete still but he needs to get off the crack berfore he finds his self distruct button!!! (cant wait to se them at reading) and i love their new single f**k forever
Vicky - Oxford
Sure Babyshambles are good but The Libertines are still one of the best bands of the last 10 years.Forget Coldplay and Farnz Ferdinand
Leeds
Yes, what Scotland said!
Emalie - Birmingham
Pete is the greatest British lyricist since Morrissey broke onto the scene 20 years ago. He's the people's poet, a shining light in the current scene where meaning is lost behind marketing.
People who want to make petty jibes and highlight his crack habit can do so all they wish, it will change nothing: the quality of his music speaks for itself.
Cirencester
why do we glorify a drugged up buffoon like this with no manners and who thinks its cool to keep people waiting for hours at gigs - like in Frome on Thursday night. if he cared about his fans he wouldnt be so late. The public gets what the public gets and you the bbc1 and radio 1 are too blame!!
kevin shepton mallet
I think Pete is wicked, nobody is perfect. Music rocks
Lucy, Kent
why bother - am I bovvered tho'...who cares !!..bring back Bob Marley...Rrrrespect
A goon, northants
Yeah Babyshambles are great and could become the biggest band in Britain but The Libertines are better.Their best band this country has produced since Oasis.
Josh, Leeds
Pete is a genius & a great guy...He personifies the rocn n roll edict, if your looking for pop, listen to cliff you losers...
Steve.. Swindon
i think pete is just one of rocks wannabe's. honestly, some people would follow a paper bag down the street!
Dee . Brighton
Did anyone see the footage of F**k forever on the other stage earlier on today it's amazing. But whats going on Eavis! Where are The Cribs and Arctic Monkeys.
The Scenster, Leeds
A band that has been propelled into the mainstream by the drug addiction of one sad individual. I doubt anybody knows the names of anyone else in the band
Chester
What was that gig all about? Trying to get into the crowd? Security nightmare but of course another headline in tabloids if it'd have gone wrong! Stick to the music Pete- your band is no more than an early THE CLASH (good thing) but don't go thinking that all of these silly stunts actually improve the music!
Well done with the gig: 6/10
John Maguire, Belfast
did you see them tonight
they were PANTS
MICK BELFAST
Pete should have done up his flies. Otherwise I thought his voice was lost in the music. I loved the Libertines but this probably is the cross round isn't it?
Chester
clearly those of you who can't appreciate Dohertys poetry/songwriting have only become familiar with the man through the tabloids.Obviously I'm a fan but also the first to admit he can let himself and us(fans) down at times. When he's good he's amazing, when hes bad it's just a crying shame.Stop comparing him to Cobain and the likes, that's just too easy and downright f***in lazy.
Lauren,London
what a prick he is, seen it all before
pete rotherham
Pete & kate?
Posh and Becks on drugs. Literally.
Chatham
Sorry people but they were absolutely p*sh!!!
Glasgow
wahaey he mentioned the brakes on his interview
toby hants
Babyshambles f*****g rocked! If you cant appreciate Punk or Rock why dont you p**s of and leave it to the big boys.....I hear Lemar is playing at top of the pops why dont you head of there!!!!
Jay London
songs grow on you, but they're still not the libertines
Pete Doherty is the most amazing songwriter/poet around ever!
who ever took his hat, CAN I HAVE IT?!?!?!?!
Chloe, London
I think they should drop the "baby". Complete shambles.
Bring back the Libertines.
Sam - Reading
Pete is fit, nuff said.
aimee, manchester
i think they were great it was the 1st time i heard them but they did well
ashleigh, south west london
I'd rather see Pete back with The Libertines, but as long as he's making great music I'm happy. Can't wait for the Babyshambles debut album, all you other freaks leave Pete alone, just cos he's a musical genius and your not.
Steve, Oswestry
watching pete on friday was like watching your local smack head invade the stage to act "the funny man" for all his mates. no doubt his performance tonight will show all the kids how cool it is to be a drug addict? its a shame because he can actually write...... bemusing.
cliff richard/ wimboldon
Babyshambles are f**king excellent, Pete is a legend and gorgeous with it. There is no end to his talent!
Claire, Kent.
i saw babyshambles at the pre-glasto warmup in frome and was terribly disapointed.
i like pete doherty i think he has great charisma but i'm afraid the band left me cold and all the more depressingly so because when i first heard and eventualy saw the libertines live i recognised a truely talented young band with bags of potential. an unfortunate turn of events all round.
vaughan, bristol.
Is it just me or was the singing flat for 90 % of the time......
Katy, Stoke
I watched Babyshambles set last night on BBC. I thought they were quite good. But later, The White Stripes blew me away. I have never really followed either. Pete is surrounded by hype. I bet he doesn't even do drugs.
Steve from Derby
The Babyshambles set was, I think, awesome. The boys did a great job, and you could see that the crowd loved it.
For those that are saying that Peter's just a f***ed up smack head, then read some of his poetry- it's pretty stunning. He's been formally published many a time- and not on the back of libertines sucess or tabloid notoriety- and is acknowledged as being one of the best contemporary poets in Britain. So really, before you criticise so wildly, close your s**t-for-brains copy of The Mirror- if you can bear to miss that mind-numbing s**t- and learn about something worthwhile for a change.
Eastbourne
I've been to the glastonbury festival for years, the first time was in 1982 as a child. Being that I wasn't able to get a ticket this year ,i have been watching on tv and online. I'm sorry to say the that Babyshambles set was the worst I've seen in 13 years! Kate Moss looked embarrassed to be onstage with them...
Ade Avalon, Chichester
The music is great, but Pete is a complete idiot. He should clean himself up, get off the drugs... You can't write awesome tunes when you're dead.
Matt, Nottingham
Personally I think there is no start to Pete Doherty's talent.
Insipid & Trite music.
Too strung out on this weeks class a to do anything with his supposed talent.
Drew, Brighton
Will someone get Pete Doherty from out of his backside and kindly request he stops being a robbing loser junkie. How many chances can someone get ?
Simon R, Halesowen
Pete is the most amazing thing around at the moment. Fair enough, Babyshambles wasn't that great but Pete has had a very hard time. The Libertines were the best thing around for at least 10 years... give the guy a break!
Lucy, Cheltenham
babyshambles are alright, they do what they want to do, what are you expecting?.I feel sorry for Pete, the papers are trying to portray him as the classic rock n roll star on the path of self destruction. where really he`s just a sensitive chav with an english gcse and an addictive personality. leave him be.
Mick Fukuoka
i dont like pete but i like his music quite alot. i have a few friends that are really into them (chloe ellie) but for me the libertines were nang but the babyshambles are only standad.
tilly london
As long as peter keeps on making good music,i am happy and dont care about what people say about him.He is a legend with a huge song writting potential.Baby Shambles rock !!!
Pramod,Reading
i agree with the guys from leeds and manchester
newcastle
Seen Babyshambles at Glasto on Friday - love Pete and love the band but gotta agree with some people on here - it's never gonna compare to the Libertines. Band came on 20 mins late and only played half an hour (max) - really didn't leve me feeling much for them :( bit upset - have seen them before and left feeling much happier.
C - Newcastle
for f***s sake sure pete was a smackhead, but you have no idea why he did, it, he's been in rehab and is off it now anyway, stop being a loada small minded sh*ts, pete doherty is the best lyricist/poet we've had for a long time, open your minds, babyshambles you RULE!
jess bristol
living off the libs.
manchester
Before Glasto, I had never heard a single Libertines Song and had no Idea with Pete was. I was so impressed by Babyshambles. It's openned new doors for me, just as I had given up on decadent 21st centry music.
Patrick, USA
they rock! saw them at glasto, man hes so wasted, but so cool! soon as there seedee comes out im buyin..
eggo, jersey
Rubbish. Lucky enough they didn't ruin the whole weekend.
James, London
It's time for anarchy to rear it's ugly head again! Jealousy is an evil thing all you Doherty haters. DESTROY!!!
John Lydon, California
Babyshambles are agreat rock n roll band but Gold Blade are better and they have better lyrics, why were they not on Glastonbury?
Chloe Leeds
pete doherty is a songwriting genius- no question
ok, he might not have the strongest voice, and the band might not be the tightest performers or the most gifted technically- but since when have babyshambles claimed to be the new U2. This is punk rock, not bloody stadium rock- you're all missing the point, it's not about being professional, it's about making music that means something to a disillusioned generation, and there has not been anyone who can do this aswell as pete doherty since morrisey.
Shaun Ryder couldn't sing, Ian Curtis couldn't sing, Lou Reed couldn't sing....i could go on and on, they're all songwriting geniuses
jamie, cumbria
Friends of mine saw Babyshambles at Glasto said they were awful. Saw them myself last night at Hyde Park and I CANT BELIEVE how BAD they were! Pete's band members seemed embarrassed and awkward and I could only feel pity for them all. Terrible!
Juliana, London
I Haven't been into then for long, but i watched Babyshambles on Glastonbury and was highly entertained by Pete's antics. I normally like the music but thought it was of very poor standard.
Jamie Newcastle
babyshambles as a band of musicians are talented, pete may be a 'poet' but i ask myself, would they be where they are now if it was'nt for kate moss.Pete is so far up his own arse,i used to like the shambles but i think he(not the band)is a washed up twat, and kate who's gonna pick-up your career when it goes tits up,because it will, pete doherty do yourself a favour and grow up.
sarah meadows, North london.
pete doherty...like insurance costs really......stupid just stupid.top band though.pete please,please stop.
the admiral. England
pete = wot a legend even with the old trilby
ben and ryan bridlington
not even worth talking about. utter rubbish. I have never witnessed such a waste of a 30 minute slot at Glastonbury....
Southport
killamangiro awsome babyshambles rock patrick is a well good guitarist, pete and payrick rock
poole
I wanted to see babyshambles at glastonbury because my boyfriend is very much into them and i had not heard much music from the libertines or babyshambles and only knew a little of Pete Doherty from the stupid media hype but as i was late getting to glasto, i missed them at the other stage so i saw them insted of coldplay (who im not too keen on) in the left field the next night and they blew my mind away. It was a very good gig and Pete Doherty was incredably good at audience involvement, which seems to be rare to find these days so i acctually recomend them =)
Chaz from a small placed named Devon
absolutely fantastic band, still love the lib's though, Pete you are a legend!!!!
erin, middlesbrough
Parke davies from south london you are a right fool, if you do not appreciate the music you have no taste. Pete is the most amazing song writer and performer ever to take the stage, and is a ledgend. i have no respect for any of you weirdos slagging him off saying the music is overated. i agrre so strongly wuith sam from manchester.
Tash, from somewhere where people actually can tel
