Who do you think should be headlining this year?

Basement Jaxx

So Basement Jaxx are headlining,  taking charge of the party atmosphere that Ms Minogue was to provide. Is this the best choice? Let us know who you would have chosen to perform on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night.

surely pink floyd should have been asked to do it!they have to be the ultimate glasto band to have never played it.Maybe u2 or the mighty RADIOHEAD who's 97 set is my personal glasto moment.
stanley j solo swansea

Excellent, I thought Basement Jaxx were the higlight for me last year and I can't wait to see them again. Snow Patrol would have been nice.
Liz

I would like to have seen the stone roses reform to close the festival ( although iv more chance of winning the lottery ) but at least Ian Brown is headlining the other stage!
Tommy, Dumfries

What are the BBC (and especially Jo W) on? White Stripes were ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!! Why did they get so much TV time when there were some many more deserving bands to screen? Does anyone agree?
Phil, Notts

Wether you like their music or not, Basement Jaxx are an awesome LIVE act. Kinda hard to explain unless it's been witnessed. I saw them at homelands a few yrs back and was totally blown away by the whole show. the only other act which gained such an atmosphere that night was Faithless and although i'm not a fan of their music they are another awesome live act.. Basement Jaxx - excellent choice... has to be seen to be believed, trust.
Mikey, Cardiff

Basement Jaxx good choice for headliners. The Killers have been the best on so far great set. Stevie.T (Wallsend)
Wallsend,Tyne&Wear.

The Killers are the best band on by far, but i am a great fan of basement jaxx and are looking forward to seeing them on Sunday
Wallsend,Tyne&Wear

never mind that. it's 1a.m. friday night and inbetween some great live music i have to suffer 2 muppets presenting bbc3. it's no suprise i don't know who they are when one of them just tried to convince the nation that james dean bradfield of the manic street preachers is the bass player in the band. and i don't even like the manics, but i do know that he isn't the bass player because the bass player isn't fat and chooses to wear womens clothes. i mean, everyone knows that. that is, apart from your presenters. whoever chose those two ignorants to present coverage of the worlds best live music festival needs a good kicking.
stevie p / north

So Radio 1 get to broadcast Glasto - hmmm I really think that this underlines just how far wrong it has gone from the event that I saw in the 80's.....a real shame.
Jay @ Lancing

So the now middle class music festival of the year gets washed out - or should I say washed up? Last time I went was when Robbie Williams played - I vowed never to return then and looking at this years' acts, I think I made the right decision. A real shame, it needs to get a grip on where it's going.
H, Worthing

I think Muse should headline although Basement Jaxx are alrite Muse rock!
York

Good to see that some great up and coming comedy poets will be featuring at the Poetry & Words tent with The New October Poets and Giovanni Esposito....with their killer Reggae/Hiphop slam style of poetry!
Andy, Birmingham

no way man BJ are like a variety act with a stream of dodgy cabaret singers-should have got something psychedelic and unifying-in other words the chemical brothers.when they headlined in 2000 it was the best glasto set ever!
kate,oxford

BASEMENT JAXX ARE POO AND SHOULD NOT BE AT GLASTO, I AGREE ON THE FOO FIGHTERS.
JON SOUTHAMPTON

Robert Plant is worthy. The new album is stunning, also Pink Floyd as previously mentioned here. The biggest bands of the moment must be Franz Ferdinand, U2, Coldplay etc. Any of these would also have done the spot justice. (I know U2 are on tour so they are out). But Basement WHO? I think I have one of there albums somewhere. But to headline Glasto? Give over. What a disappointment that must be to the lucky ticket holders.
James , Brighton

Basement Jaxx????!!!!!!!!??? C'mon what's goin on! In my opinion, they're not worthy of closing or even jus headlining the pyramid. i think that they should've just rearranged the bands that were already on, around. or if they couldn't do that then just get muse back again!! now that's what you call a REAL band.
James, London

I don't think a Basement Jaxx are a good act can they carry off finishing the Festival in the appropriate way? - MUSE where simply awesome last year and need something along those lines. How about taking the festival back to some older vibes - Ozrics or the Levellers would be good! That said - Basement Jaxx will keep the media types / Aussies happy, 90% of glastonburger these days anyway
Iain - Kensington

Basement Jaxx is the perfect choice, they are cool and had a great year - everybody loves them - even my dad - this is the perfect reward for them after giving us a year or a few more years of pleasure.
Alice Truro

Listen up! Last year, everyone dissed Muse as opposed to Orbital on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night. Frankly, having seen Orbital instead, they were right to put Muse on the Pyramid. Absolutely amazing. Never seen anything like them before in my life (on the TV afterwards unfortunately). So I'll trust them in having got it right.
Phil, London

Basement Jaxx are an awesome band live, will finish off glasto in explosive stylee. Unfortunately i missed them last year to watch Macca and I'm gonna be missing them again this year to watch the monkey man on the other stage.
Chris Nottinghampton

I missed Glastonbury last year but have to say one of the highlights for me on TV was watching the Basement Jaxx's set. The crowd went mental - it looked so good. And I was so jealous I wasn't there. Now I will be \0/ Basement Jaxx 4tw
Niall - London

Basement Jaxx !!! What have they ever done to earn their place on the main stage sunday headliner !?! We need an "oldie". In previous years Macca and Bowie have been great, BJ are just another throw-away band of the moment. Let's get the pro's on there please !
Russtik, Brighton

Some excellent suggestions - all or any of the Chemicals, Prodigy, Orbital or Faithless could have capped the weekend. Basement Jaxx have the potential - let's keep an open mind and see if they can add themselves to the list of all-time Glasto greats.
R, London

just get coldplay back for a 2nd night surely!! that would make me happy!!
Ross, Yeovil

They should have got the FOO FIGHTERS to cancel what ever they had planned to headline as the replacement to Kylie.... Rock 'N' Roll man!!!
Si, Peterborough

RADIOHEAD!!!! or PINK FLOYD...
Len, St.helens, Uk

i think queen with the new bloke would be excellent!! imagine the singalong!!
alex, london

Basement Jaxx - phoey! Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club are the act not to be missed - Accoustic Stage (not sure why) 3rd on the bill Saturday - prepare to be blown away!
Peter - Cardiff

Pink Floyd would be a dream of course, but James Blunt could easily have been a reality. His album Back To Bedlam will go down as one of the greatest of all time. His songs could become the soundtrack of our lives not only for summer 2005, but for glastonbury 2005 as well.
Helen/London

Can't think of anyone better than Basements!! Would be even better if Dizzee were accompanying them!!!
Drum - Somerset

They could have got Gabrille, or Lisa Stansfield,- something not too loud and brashy.
South London

Why is this topic generating so much wind? Can one act truly "close" Glasters? This all seems a bit too precise. With a million other thing's to see and do in this incredible 900 acre field, I don't thing I'll be committing myself to the BJ's just yet - as groovy as they are.
Little Lever Vega - a man of the moment - Bolton

Ian Brown should be persuaded to join up and reform the Stone Roses as headliners.
Alex in Ascot

Basement Who? For God's sake if this is the best they can do for the Sunday evening headline act, it's time to ask for a refund. This is the premier outdoor music festival of the Summer! As for the Saturday line-up, aren't Keane, Razorlight, Kasabian, The Futureheads, and Athlete all the same band? All nice and safe four-four rhythm music fodder for Thatcher's kids.
TW, Blackpool.

really poor choice...no real 'big' history to a band like this. A let down compared to the McCartney and Oasis blockbusters last year, Why not just re organise the existing acts and give Chas and Dave a pop. We al no the word (and 50,000 singing rabbit, rabbit, rabbit would please me) ...Some big lights, fireworks and a load a shandy and we would all be very very happy.
The south icelandic motorcycle display team / Glas

Basment Jaxx are amazing! simple, very happy!
Liam, Oxford

Does it matter which band headlines on the pyramid stage on sunday, Glasto isn't just about the music. Maybe people should explore other parts of the vast site and find something different to do on sunday evening. Like last year i saw Bill Bailey on a small open stage on sunday evening (thousands of people there) and then we all watched the closing fireworks being set off from the sacred space. Perfect!!
JC, Leeds

For me its got to be Faithless - THE best live band of the current generation. Could you imagine Maxi Jazz leading the choir with 100000 fingers in the air singing We Come 1?
Al, Dumfries

The final night at Glasto as to have a special send of and basement jaxx dont do it. It should be U2 , Bowie that would be amazin.
Adam Derby

Yeh Basement Jaxx were fantastic at V last year would rather see chemicals headling though!
Jack Broadway

really dont think bj deserve to headline. should of got jason donnavon. glad im missing it this year, maybe 2 yrs time might have a good line up
mat martin somerset

Why are no decent, good, established bands playing this year ?
Stuart Burns Liverpool

the crazy frog. he just represents everything that is wrong in the world at the moment and really puts on a great show. or idlewild
rowland, putney

James Blunt should be headlining the pyramid stage. I can't believe radio one haven't even got him listed as one of sundays recommended acts.
helen chelmsford

Doesn't bother me, Bright Eyes followed by Ryan Adams on the John Peel Stage....Won't be anywhere near the Pyramid stage anyway!!
Daz, Dublin

Does it really matter??????? By the time the last act comes round on the last night of Glastonbury, is anyone gonna be that "with it" to actually care?????
Gav, Bracknell

Agreed, there could have been many an act that we would loved to have seen fill the last spot of the weekend - but the fact of the matter is NOBODY that big came forward other than Jamiroquai!! Personally I think they should have been offered the spot. The Jaxx were one of the best acts at Glato last year and I think they fully deserve the chance to headline the Pyramid stage. EVERYTHING IS LOOKING GOOD, SEE YOU SOON!!!!!!
Gav, Bracknell

Baement Jaxx, don't they play every year at Glastobaby? It would be a right let down if they headlined. Couldn't you get Bowie? Ha! Now that would be amazing!
Ralph Edmundo Walker, LEEDS.

They should have moved The Undertones into the headlining position - they'll blow all the others off the stage anyway.
stote007, Den Haag

Basement Jaxx? Where was Eavis head at?
London

I imagine Pink Floyd would be the ultimate closing act. Orbital could do the job, too. Shame the Beeb didn't use their version of Doctor Who for the TV series, too!
Mike, London

why stress about the lack of a stone roses reunion. the monkey man himself is closing on the other stage (i think?). go see him do the business instead of BJ. he's sure to provide a few old hits.
g,leeds

I think Led Zeplin would have been good !! but back to reality, B Jaxx are one of the best live acts I have ever seen, they will no doubt have more than have the desired effect...see you all W/E..
Bob Lisa & Kate P

Dylan would be the ultimate Glasto headliner, although guess it might have been a bit late for this year. Get him for 2007! Pixies come a close second
Dave, Manchester

I was sad to see Kylie headlining, but when Basement Jaxx took the spot,I just couldn,t believe it. They're so poppy and unmemorable. Oh well, the joy of Glastonbury is you never have to make do with sub-standard bands.
Neil, Bristol

Definately should have been U2 - They Rock!
Claire, Manchester

oh my god ive got to go there is. thay is the icing on the cake BASEMENT JAXX!!!
Jimbo W.malling

Elton all the way!! Although Basement Jaxx will be perfect to ease me into the recovery period....
Belinda, London

rolling stones would have been good to close glasto
gezzer, brighton

they should have offered the chance to Orbital for one last fling (i know they did last year and were fantasitc) - The jaxx will be pretty good too
Jase-0

I would love to see the Foo Fighters or someone like Pearl Jam. Basement Jaxx are ok but not the act to close an event like Glastonbury.
Sharron, Malvern

Faithless / Chemical Brothers and Orbital - any one of these would do me just fine! I have been going to Glastonbury for 10 years and these three are best closing acts by far.
Allana, Daventry

Basement Jaxx... allows you to go home on Sunday evening instead of Monday morning. Perhaps Coldplay, as Britain's most popular band du jour, should have been asked to do an encore performance :) Me, well, as others have said, I'd like to see a classic band with a solid back catalogue close things out - REM, U2, Blur...
Ian, London

Where were The Cure or Radiohead everyone wanted a reunion of the Stone Roses which would be absolutely amazing but it wouldn't be right to do it. Good look to Basement Jaxx who will close the curtain at least for another year or two. See you down at GLASTONBURY
Waddy

I Agree with Bracknell (although not the whole town!) that BJ were truly brilliant last year. They really did ROCK... Ill never forget "Jump n Shout" at the death. Good luck lads... you deserve the spot!
Lambo - Manchester

basement jaxx were awsome last year, at the same time as mcartney which is good as i am one of the people not really interested in seeing mcartney. was great, the light show was great and mcartney's fireworks fit in time the the jaxx. even drenched in mud with a mate on my shoulders you cant beat em. so enjoy basement jaxx as i cant this year, no ticket!!
beano, northallerton north yorks

faithless they get the crowd going and are the best dance act around and incredible live
charlotte, stevenage

Ben Folds would be a great show closer
Laurie Griffiths - Walton on Thames

Would have preferred a Sunday night "wind down, sit down and be entertained" band. BJ will be too high energy for me on the last night so I'll be sitting on my butt somewhere in Lost Vagueness instead...
Nigel, Glasgow

Pink Floyd, without a doubt.
Liz, Swansea

Watch out for John Butler Trio and Rodrigo y Gabriela; two amaaaaazing acts. Cheers, DaddyCool.
Graham, Stockport

Mmm. Burning man looks more tempting at this stage. David Bowie, now he would've finished the thing in style ...
Jo, Oxford

The ultimate would be Pearl Jam i have longed to see them at pilton for years.
Lowster - Somerset

MANICS MANICS MANICS!! I know they are not the biggest Glastonbury fans but they always get the crowd going! I have seen them 3 times already this year and I would have loved to see them again! Jaxx will be ok.
Jen, Derby

I think that Basement Jaxx is a much better headliner that Kylie. Has everyone forgot that Primal Scream are also now second on the bill on Sunday - now this will Rock!!!
Sedd - York

PINK FLOYD
London

There are bands at Glastonbury? ;-D
Mat, London

Basement Jaax were the best act of Glasto 2004, so couldn't have asked for anyone better this year. They deserve to be headlining on the Pyramid Stage, unless U2 were available of course!!!!
Bracknell

Not really listened much to basementjaxx, i would of prefered the pixies, or on saturday jello biafra with the melvins who are in france on the 24th, still i can dream.
Bath.

Doves? Where are you? 3rd on the bill on Friday!?!?! Scandalous. They should close the show, as they did on the Other stage in 2003. Now with THE album of the year so far, the time would have been right for them to headline the Pyramid. Not that I dislike the Jaxx however.....
Chris, Darlington

prodigy!!!!!best thing ever
tony/devon

I for one am so excited about them headlining. I've seen them a few times live, and they have never disappointed! They really put on a spectacle and get the entire place dancing. I had to miss them last year for Macca, but I'm definitely there this year. What a way to end the festival. Not a first choice headliner admittedly, but a more than worthy replacement.
Simon, London

I'm not overly impressed that they're playing but who cares it'll be a laugh whereever you are.. I'm going to see 2 many djs so i ain't bothered. They rock. Sorry but could people stop suggesting stone roses .. its not that i don't like em its just how exactly are they supposed to play with the lead singer headlining the other stage.. ?? Hmm !!!
Frank Gane / St Agnes

yeh that sounds fanatical frantic basement jack straw your son is rad man

I saw Basement Jaxx last year at Glasto. I've always liked their tunes but seeing them live at glasto was amazing and made me go and buy lots of their records. They have to be a great contender for getting a whole field jumping, they have reasonably well known recognisable songs and the added liveliness of their onstage performance will keep everyone's eyes busy. It's a FAR better glasto headliner than Kylie (which no-one I knew thought was a good idea at all), and will give a much better atmosphere to finishing the pyramid stage than another relatively mundane NME favourite "The ..." band, some old "legend" most people don't know many/any songs by, or a once great but now sketchy reformed band that can't prove why they were great to begin with anymore.
PJ Dolphin, Southampton

in light of the Live8 reformation it really should be the great Pink Floyd. Step forward messrs Waters, Wright, Mason, Gilmour.
Paul, London

Gorillaz! I know they're a 'virtual' band and all that, but can you imagine 'Feel Good Inc' blasting out across the fields? What a summer sound that would be!
Andrew, Buckinghamshire

they wouldn't have been my first choice but i think they will do it justice. they always do. those guys can rock as much as dance. i look forward to it!
looby london

I think a headliner would need a band/artist that has an extensive back cataloge of quality material. They have three, and the vast majority of track from those would be unknown to most. Sorry, Brian Wilson should have been given their spot !
Steve - Croydon

Basement Jaxx is an alright choice for headliner, although they wouldn't have been my first choice. Personally, I would have rather seen a reformed Stone Roses or another classic band. I don't think that dance music is really what is wanted on the Pyramid stage on sunday. I remember seeing Moby a couple of years ago on the Pyramid on a sunday. He was alright. But just alright. Muse last year absolutely rocked the place. It was one of the best sets of the whole weekend, and a brilliant way to close a brilliant festival. I just don't think the Jaxx will be able to do that. So I'm going to be in the Green Fields to see the burning man.
Steve, Cambridge
