1995 was the 25th anniversary of the first Glastonbury, and so saw performances from original lineup members Al Stewart and Keith Christmas. The event sold out in four weeks and was again televised by Channel 4. A dance tent was introduced that was graced by the likes of Massive Attack, System 7 and Eat Static. Other acts to perform at the festival included Oasis, Pulp (who replaced Stone Roses), PJ Harvey and the Offspring. An immense £400,000 was donated to Greenpeace, Oxfam and other charities and good causes.

The year we sang happy birthday to bonehead, lost my watch bouncing to Ash and had the best time. Oh and the sun shone lots!

Crowd surfing to Common People... one of the best moments of my life. 95 was a classic - sun and Jarvis at their best.

The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Carl Cox. I dont think Glastonbury recovered since. The hight of dance fever and I loved it up. Orbital - having played various small gigs around Glastonbury and a large one the year before - ripped it up. But I think everyone mourned losing the Stone Roses...

1995 has to be up there as one of the best Glastonbry's of all time, it certainly was my best Glastonbury! This year was all about dance music, everyone raves about the Pulp set but I was over at the acoustic stage chilling out to Portishead. Orbital played the Pyramid on saturday and Belfast playing the sun was setting is my seminal Glasto moment of all time. Other highlights included the Prodigy on Friday night, Massive Attack and Carl Cox in the dance tent, PJ Harvey's pink leotard and having an outer-body experience whilst watching the Ozric tentacles on Friday afternoon. Another great memory was sitting by the edge of tent city overlooking the Pyramid stage on Friday afternoon sharing a bottle of vodka with a group of perfect strangers whilst Jamiroquai was on stage. Yes, it was messy and yes, I got sunburnt but Glastonbury '95 will stay with me forever.

Cafe Bosnia, Vader Bros Wheel of Death, surviving on 40quid for 2 days and nights, no tent and just a sleeping bag, Pulp Fiction in the cinema field, waking up behind a Greenpeace Portacabin that had been used as a toilet....

Jeff Buckley was incredible in the afternoon-he created his magical weirdness and we hung on his every move-beautiful...Pulp were magnificent and so much better than the Roses would have been..PJ Harvey was so amazing and unique-loved her performance.
Hadn`t been for a few years-now electricity on site!Great toilets!

This was my first of 5 consecutive Glastonburys. Amazing weather, I got a great tan. I remember being in awe of the whole experience. I made my biggest Glasto faux pas by going to see The Shamen instead of Pulp; my biggest Glasto regret. Luckily I enjoyed everything even The Shamen. Seeing Jeff Buckley for the 2nd and final time was fantastic. Oasis were rubbish…a huge leaden disappointment. But Beck, Orbital and loads of the dance stuff was fantastic.
Overall a great experience, relaxing and uplifting (you could plonk yourself down anywhere and soak up the sun unlike the following years…muddy 97 and 98..
Ggggrrr

I lasted one day and night- my wife was carrying our first child back home and I think I must have felt guilty deep down inside especially camping alone. I was pretty clueless about the dance culture and watched The Prodigy from close up wondering why everyone behind me was going crazy for the weird guy with the menacing stare. I cannot believe that I went home knowing that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page would be playing on Sunday.
