Wu-Tang Clan

The World's Greatest Hip Hop Collective

They created one of the greatest and most influential hip hop albums of all time with 1993’s Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and members of the Clan have gone on to produce numerous solo albums.

After Jay-Z (sorry Noel!) and Snoop proved that there is a home for rap at Glastonbury the Clan performed a storming set.

LOL....what a load of (c)rap! Lets all shout and cus and give everyone a headache!

Now....if Public Enemy were there, THAT would be worth seeing. Proper rap without the c.

Wu Tang Clan massively disappointed me on Friday. I came in not being too familiar with their music except, of course, Gravel Pit; and being a big lover of all music, especially Hip Hop, I was looking forward to seeing what the Clan had to offer.

What I experienced was neither Hip nor Hopping. It was a collection of barely talented blokes shouting profanities down their microphones whilst cradling their egos. Credit where credit's due though, they did have the crowd eating out of their hands and lapping it up. The music (I use the term music in the loosest possible sense here) was somewhat lacking and not to mention every 60 second blast of repetitive yelling and rapping was brought to a climax with one of the cheesiest explosion/smashing crescendos I've heard this side of 1999...

In 2013 I'd like to see some genuinely talented Hip Hop artists at Glastonbury. The likes of Jurassic 5 or CunninLynguists, who know how to hold a beat and get people moving their feet!

I barely dare even mention the "freestyle" skit that took place, which could not have been less "free" or less "stylin'".... Wu Tang Clan was a black spot in an otherwise flawless festival for me. Feel free to disagree and contradict, however. I am speaking pure opinion here.

^^^ I don't think they should be trying to cater to everyone's personal musical tastes.

I thought they were great although the sound let them down a bit. I expect most people who like the music would have enjoyed the set

.. but how can someone who lists hiphop as one of their favourite types of music not be familiar with who are arguably the most influential hiphop group of all time?
