A Trapdoor is used to hold a ball untill you want it to play. A ball will just sit in a trapdoor untill the trapdoor opens. When the trapdoor opens, the ball will fall out and play whatever steps are underneath it.You can make the trapdoor open in two ways, either by using a link-step or by using the counter. Select the trapdoor tab in the main menu.

Set up the grid.
To see how the trapdoor works, first make two sets of steps. Then make sure the 'Open on link' box is checked in the main menu, and put a trapdoor over one of them.
Place two balls.
Put a ball on the top of the left hand set of steps, and a ball with a different sound in the trapdoor.
Link the trapdoor.
Click on the link tool in the main toolbar. Now click on one of the steps in the left-hand set, say the third one. Then click on the trapdoor. Both the trapdoor and the step will change colour, and an arrow will appear, showing you that they are linked.
Press play.
Now press play, you will see that the ball in the trapdoor waits untill the ball on the left gets to the 'link-step'. Then the trapdoor opens and it falls down onto the steps below.
