Louise Golbey is a singer, songwriter and musician based in London whose sound can be described as contemporary Soul with a twist of Jazz.She has performed extensively around London and beyond, playing at many renowned music venues such as Ronnie Scotts and The Jazz Café in London regularly. She has also been asked to play at The London Jazz Festival at The Barbican later in November this year.
Currently she is working with Mercury Music Prize nominee producer Drew Horley (De La Soul, Estelle, Roots Manuva, TY, Natalie Williams and Nate James).
Louise uploaded her music to BBC Introducing and her track ‘Same Old Same Old’ attracted the attention of 1Xtra's Ras Kwame and 6 Music's Tom Robinson. Louise recently filmed a music video for this track. The video features the BBC Radio 1 DJ Ras Kwame & other special guest appearances. The track was ‘tip of the week’ on Ras’ Kwame’s Homegrown show on Radio 1xtra back in May alongside Mercury Music Prize 2009 winner Speech Debelle which led to both artists being invited to play at Glastonbury Festival 2009 on the BBC Introducing Stage.
She was lucky enough to have the BBC Introducing team filming behind the scenes during the the shoot and the exclusive ‘making of’ footage on the BBC website coming soon.
Louise also is a harmony vocalist for Broadcast 2000, UK Rapper Lyric L, Rescue Cat and occasionally for singer Joy Joseph (Mr Hudson and The Library).
