Peter Mansell

Biography

Peter Mansell was the bassist and sometime backing vocalist for the British rock band Pulp.

He was an active member of the band between 1984 and 1987 appearing on all recordings during this period. The only full length LP he recorded with the band was Freaks. The bulk of the rest of his input can be heard on the 1994 compilation Masters of the Universe.

He has been the boyfriend of Pulp keyboardist Candida Doyle since the mid-80's. Despite this, he left the group along with Candida's brother Magnus Doyle (the group's drummer at the time) in late '87.

At the 1996 BRIT awards, he and Jarvis Cocker invaded the stage in protest during Michael Jackson's performance of "Earth Song".

He receives a songwriting credit on the track "Sunrise" from the band's final album We Love Life.
