Howard Bilerman

Biography

Howard Bilerman is a Canadian recording engineer, producer & Grammy nominated musician. He is a former member of the band Arcade Fire, and drummed on their debut album, Funeral, as well as records by Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band, Vic Chesnutt, Basia Bulat, and Angela Desveaux. He runs the Hotel2Tango recording studio in Montreal, Canada, along with Efrim and Thierry of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Radwan Moumneh. Before that, he ran a studio in Old Montreal called Mom & Pop Sounds. In 2008, Bilerman joined the audio & music faculty at the Banff Centre for their winter Indie Band Residency. He will also be part of their fall 2009 residency.

Bilerman has recorded over 300 records, including bands such as Molasses, British Sea Power, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band, Thalia Zedek, Pony Up!, CPC Gangbangs, Arcade Fire, Tiago Bettencourt, Black Ox Orkestar, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hrsta, Vic Chesnutt, The Dears, Basia Bulat, Angela Desveaux and Bell Orchestre. A more complete resume can be found at his homepage.

In 2006, Howard founded The Mile-End Co-Ed Ballhockey League (MECEBHL). He also has a signature drink at the Arts Cafe on Fairmount Avenue - "the Howard" being the combination of a steamed soy chai latte and an espresso.
