Biography

Orri Páll Dýrason (born in 4 July 1977) is the drummer for Sigur Rós. He joined the band in 1999, shortly after the recording of the studio album Ágætis byrjun, when the previous drummer, Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson, left the band. He married Lukka Sigurðardóttir in Hawaii in 2005. He has a daughter from a prior relationship, whose name is Vaka. The first track from the ( ) album was named after her. Orri and his wife live in the outskirts of Mosfellsbær, which is not far from Reykjavík and is in walking range of Sigur Rós's studio, Sundlaugin. Lukka along with Jónsi Birgisson's boyfriend, Alex Somers, form the Toothfaeries who make the official hand-made merchandise for Sigur Rós.

His influences include John Bonham, Keith Moon, Charlie Watts, Ginger Baker, Ringo Starr and Mitch Mitchell.
