He's looked after some of the most famous names in the modelling, and he loves to push the boundaries of the beauty industry. Now he's helping the eight girls through the highs and lows of the competition ...

Jonathan Phang

Jonathan Phang's career as a manager in the fashion industry has spanned over two decades.

At just 17 years of age, he was snapped up by uber-cool agency Synchro to be a booker. He flourished there and quickly built up an impressive portfolio of British and international faces. As his reputation grew, it didn't take long for some of the influential New York agencies to get on the phone and ask him to represent their models in Europe.

After being poached by top agency IMG, Jonathan spent two years in America. His next move was as Head of Management of Models 1, where he looked after the careers of industry icons such as Jerry Hall, Marie Helvin and Twiggy.

Having worked as a top executive with agencies on both sides of the Atlantic, Jonathan has represented some of the world's most celebrated talent, including Tyra Banks and Liv Tyler, as well as launching the careers of Naomi Campbell, Jodie Kidd, and Christy Turlington.

Jonathan Phang is absolutely the right person to mentor the eight young disabled women competing to become Britain's Missing Top Model because he's always been keen to push the boundaries of the fashion industry. He was responsible for getting the first black woman on the cover of UK Vogue in 1986, when Naomi Campbell featured in the famous magazine. He has also constantly championed the idea of looking beyond stereotypical ideas of beauty - during his time at Models 1, he fought to broaden the market for older women to feature in the industry, saying: "Models have always been young and thin, but women are still beautiful when they get older. Look at Jerry Hall or Rachel de Thame".

Today, Jonathan owns and runs one of the industry's leading hair and make-up agencies, producing glossy photo shoots for a wide range of advertising and PR clients.
