Thousands of people from across the Midlands contributed to the Big Picture project, which was aimed to gain a snap-shot of life in the Midlands. Altogether we collected a staggering 112,896 pictures to create the world's biggest photo album and set a world record. The photographs, which were kindly donated by our viewers were then made into a huge mosaic, depicting the winning Midlands image. ![]() The final photo mosaic
![]() Award winners It's estimated the project encouraged at least half a million more people to go to art galleries across the Midlands. The Big Picture also inspired tens of thousands of people to share their photographs - and of course we broke a world record - so thanks very much for all your help. The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites The completed mosaic, which measured 30 metres by 30 metres went on display at Thinktank, Millenium Point in Birmingham.
