The India Connection

BBC Midlands Today's Transport Correspondent has travelled to India to get an inside look at the motor company that have bought out UK-based Jaguar-Land Rover.

Indian car giant, Tata paid £1.15bn for the Jaguar and Land Rover car brands after months of negotiations. The sale has meant job security for thousands of employees in the West Midlands, which has plants based in Solihull and Castle Bromwich.

BBC Midlands Today's transport correspondent Peter Plisner travelled to India to produce a series of five reports.

Who are Tata?

India Tata is a far-reaching company with links outside the car industry.

In the first of his reports, Peter Plisner gained exclusive access to the new Tata Nano - the world's cheapest motor car.

He also visited the firm's massive factory in Pune and spoke to analysts about what they think of the company.
