Michelle was in the media scrum and threw a question. Not satisfied with the Prime Minister's response, Michelle barked another question at him as he walked away with the then Chancellor Gordon Brown. Mr Blair stopped, turned around and walked back to Michelle and gave her a more considered reply. "I got a few plaudits for that - and my Political Editor joked that I wouldn't be allowed near Blair again after that mauling," says Michelle. Michelle developed her nose for news as a curious 7-year-old. "My brothers and sisters would be wanting to watch Top of the Pops or cartoons on TV, but I'd be begging my mum to turn it onto whatever news programmes were on!" Her teens saw Michelle helping out in local radio newsrooms and her first report was broadcast when she was 17. After gaining a Post-graduate Diploma in Radio Journalism at Falmouth, Cornwall, Michelle spent three years as a news reader/reporter at stations across the UK before landing her first TV job at West country Television. Michelle then went on to become a reporter at Central News, where she became the regular Weekend News Presenter, and also presented the main show. Despite the early starts at BBC Midlands Today she still finds time to indulge her other obsession, sugar craft. "There's just something about confectionery art which I find just fascinating. Novelty cakes I've made include a sparkly opera mask, a Silver Power Ranger, a huge green Thunderbirds 2 rocket and a ball pool!" last updated: 03/04/2008 at 16:49 SEE ALSOYou are in: Midlands Today > Features > Michelle Robinson
