Challenge Carl Chinn to solve histories mysteries

Carl Chinn solves histories mysteries

BBC Midlands Today have asked Birminghams' historian Carl Chinn to solve mysteries from the past.

Carl Chinn is a charismatic historian from Birmingham who was awarded an MBE in 2001 for his services to local history and charity.

"Do you know of any unsolved Midlands mysteries that Carl Chinn could solve?"

BBC Midlands Today asked him to solve some of the Midlands history mysteries. We gave him your clues and stories and sent him out to bring us the answers.

The first mystery surrounded a plane crash that happened 60 years ago behind a BBC Midlands Today viewer's home.

There is usually a reason a city, town or village has the name it does, Carl Chinn investigated New Invention in Willenhall for our second mystery.

The third mystery was the origins of a film of a march that took place in Birmingham during World War II.

When a man was arrested two WWI medals were found on him, Carl Chinn went to find out who they originally belonged to in our fourth mystery.

In the fifth mystery Carl Chinn revisited our first mystery and found the family of Sergeant Jack McNamara the pilot who crashed his aircraft behind a BBC Midlands Today viewer’s home with some emotional results.

In the sixth part of the series Carl Chinn attended the unveiling of a plaque in Sergeant Jack McNamara's memory.
