PresentersYou are in: Midlands Today > Presenters > Kay Alexander Kay AlexanderKay was educated at Frensham Heights School in Surrey and read English at the University of Birmingham. ![]() Kay Alexander As a freelance presenter she hosts award ceremonies, tries not to eat too much at dinners and lunches where she is guest speaker, and was once even asked to open several flights of new escalators in a department store. She is Chairman of the Birmingham Assay Office, a Patron of Acorns Children's Hospice, an Ambassador for the National Forest and a former director of the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre. After graduating she joined the BBC at Pebble Mill in Birmingham as a reporter on Radio 4, particularly working on You & Yours, Checkpoint and Woman’s Hour. She then set her sights on television, joined the Midlands Today team, and has been happily presenting the news programmes ever since.
As a freelance outside the BBC she works on corporate videos, voice-overs and the sometimes unusual things presenters get asked to do!
