Dara O Briain and his dynamic team of experts are to return for an action-packed second series of Dara O Briain’s Science Club, BBC Worldwide announced today.
- Second series of the hit TV show to premiere across BBC Worldwide’s global BBC HD and BBC Knowledge channels this autumn
- Dara O Briain to return with special guests, in six brand-new episodes exploring the universe’s big questions using cutting edge scientific experiments and expert thinkers
The brand-new series, which has been co-produced with BBC Two, will return to BBC Knowledge and BBC HD across the BBC’s global network of channels this autumn.
The inimitable Irish comedian, best known for his appearances on QI, Live At The Apollo and Mock The Week will return to host the science magazine format with more lively studio discussion, unmissable experiments and intriguing reports on the cutting edge of contemporary science. Accompanied by his regular team of Professor Mark Miodownik, Dr Helen Czerski and science journalist Alok Jha, along with some of the world’s most eminent scientists, O Briain will explore the ground-breaking ideas that are changing the world we live in.

In this second series, viewers can look forward to a different topic being explored and analysed each week, unearthing a plethora of interesting facts, stats and astonishing subjects. Is mind-reading scientifically possible? Are there living creatures in the sky controlling the weather? Will humans and computers ever be able to form an emotional bond and how far we can really trust our own perceptions? These questions and more will be put under the microscope by O Briain and his fact-finding team.
Executive produced by Lucy Pilkington for BBC Worldwide, Science Club underpins BBC Worldwide’s commitment to develop returnable series for its global channels and sits alongside other recent original commissions which include the undercover entrepreneur series Million Dollar Intern and Richard Bacon’s Best In Town. With exciting new commissions already in the pipeline for 2013/14, the company’s strategy to deliver 100 hours of original programming to its BBC branded channels by 2014 is well underway under Forsyth and her team.
Dara O Briain’s Science Club series two will premiere across BBC Knowledge (Asia, Australia, Central & Eastern Europe, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Scandinavia and South Africa) and on BBC HD (Scandinavia, Latin America, Poland, Turkey). The series begins transmitting on BBC2 on Thursday 25th July.
