It was an evening to remember as Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman wowed Doctor Who fans in Seoul.

A nation not (yet) visited by the Doctor on-screen got to see him in real life when over 1200 Whovians met with Peter and Jenna at a  special screening  of the first episode of series 8 on Saturday night (9 August).

As the first international stop of the Doctor Who Global Tour, the flying visit started with a warm welcome at Incheon airport on Saturday morning where a crowd of  avid  Korean fans  welcomed Peter and Jenna, many  dressed in theme and holding up welcome banners.

Later that evening, Peter and Jenna attended a talkshow segment with the fans,  which was streamed live on the Doctor Who Youtube channel

Peter Capaldi commented: "Meeting our Korean fans has been amazing. I can't believe how popular the show is in Asia. Kamsahamnida Seoul!"

"It's staggering to be so welcomed in Korea and see how well received the show, a  testament to its universal appeal. Thank you Seoul for your enthusiasm and generosity!" Said Jenna Coleman.

"This is the first time we have done a fan event of this scale in Korea and we have been overwhelmed by the response that we've received. We will definitely look at doing more here,"said David Weiland, EVP, BBC Worldwide Asia.

After Seoul, the Doctor Who World Tour moves on to Sydney,  then to New York,  Mexico City,  ending in Rio on 19 August.

In 2009, Doctor Who was named the ‘Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year’ in Korea, and last year, it joined in the record-breaking global simulcast of The Day of the Doctor.

The tour marks the largest promotional undertaking in Doctor Who’s 50-year history.
