BBC Entertainment has today revealed the four household names who will participate in the Come Dine With Me South Africa celebrity special.

BBC Entertainment has today revealed the four household names who will participate in the Come Dine With Me South Africa celebrity special. 97.4 Highveld Stereo’s Samantha Cowen, SuperSport’s Neil Andrews, television presenter and model Shashi Naidoo and M-Net presenter Ashley Hayden will compete to win ten thousand rand for their favourite charity in a special episode that will conclude the series on Wednesday 14th December at 21:00 on BBC Entertainment (DStv channel 120).

The series, a local version of ITV Studios’ hit format, is an original commission by BBC Worldwide Channels made by South African production company Rapid Blue.  Filmed in Gauteng, the concluding episode will see the four celebrity contestants follow the Come Dine With Me format: each night for a week they will take it in turn to cook up their idea of the perfect evening.  As well as cooking, the rival hosts snoop around each others’ houses and go to bizarre lengths to win the competition.  At the end of the evening, the host is judged by their guests and scored out of ten.

What have each of our celebrities got to offer their guests?

Neil Andrews has a trick up his sleeve: “I think my guests are going to have an entertaining evening.  If truth be told, I simply can't cook so I'm hoping their gastronomic expectations are the bare minimum.  That said, I'm quietly confident that the decor, my dashing good looks and an air of desperation might combine to prevent my total humiliation. Should these fail, my secret weapon is ‘the entertainment’, which is certain to secure me at least some points.”

Shashi Naidoo promises “a night of new friends enjoying great food, delicious wine and a few laughs.”

M-Net and Survior’s Ashley Hayden says that her diners “can expect a simple evening with tasty food, and good company!”

And Sam Cowen is determined to make a big impression too: “I’m such a huge fan of the show, I’ve watched and re-watched all the episodes so I really hope I’ve learnt what to do and what not to do.  I’ll be pulling out all the stops to ensure my food is great and my guests have an entertaining evening.”

Jon Farrar, VP Programming EMEA, BBC Worldwide Channels and Executive Producer commented, “I’m really pleased we will be finishing this fantastic first season of Come Dine With Me South Africa in spectacular fashion – with a celebrity special.  The celebrity versions have been a huge hit round the world, taking the viewer into their homes and putting their culinary ability to the test.  It’s going to be a lot of fun seeing how Samantha Cowen, Neil Andrews, Shashi Naidoo, and Ashley Hayden get on trying to outdo each other to host the perfect dinner party.”

Come Dine With Me South Africa has been an instant hit with viewers regularly featuring in the top 10 channels on DStv between 21.00 and 22.00 on Wednesdays.
