As part of its ongoing commitment to bring its audiences the very best of British talent and programming, BBC Lifestyle today announced the launch of its new Love Baking season. With BBC Lifestyle already home to some of the UK’s finest chefs such as Jamie Oliver, the Love Baking season offers four new exclusive shows to the network, including the hugely popular British amateur baking competition The Great British Bake Off; a brand new face for South African audiences in the shape of former model-cum-baker Lorraine Pascale, and the chance for BBC Lifestyle viewers to get involved and show off their own baking skills with the Love Baking Competition which will be judged by Master Pâtissier Eric Lanlard.

Brand New Face
Already a huge hit in the UK, hot new talent Lorraine Pascale will be making her exclusive debut appearance on South African television this coming spring with her new show Baking Made Easy. Having left the modelling world to become a qualified chef, baker and pâtissier, Lorraine has worked in some of the hottest UK restaurants while simultaneously juggling life as a mother, food journalist and business owner.
Four Brand New Exclusive shows
Baking Made Easy is one of four brand new shows which will be airing exclusively on BBC Lifestyle throughout the Love Baking season. The series follows Lorraine as she shares delicious sweet and savoury recipes with her audiences. From quick and easy to daring, dazzling and inspiring dishes with a real wow factor, Baking Made Easy offers helpful shortcuts and professional kitchen secrets whilst offering large slices of glamour and baking know-how.
Also coming in spring, one of the UK’s most popular amateur baking competitions, ‘The Great British Bake Off’. This engaging and distinctive series offers dollops of tension and excitement as ten British bakers have their baking skills put to the test through a series of challenges judged by Britain’s finest professional bakers. Each week the Bake Off will test the contestants on different baking disciplines and will head out on a nationwide tour of Britain to do it. The bakers will see their cake, biscuit, bread and pastry skills carefully scrutinised to see if they’ve got what it takes to be crowned ‘Great British Bake Off’s Best Amateur Baker’.
Quirky 10 part documentary series Choccywoccydoodah will kick off the season on Sunday 18th June at 20:00. The series takes audiences behind the scenes of this internationally acclaimed Brighton based cake shop and provides access to the talented staff responsible for creating some of the most ambitious and technically demanding chocolate masterpieces ever seen. With cakes ranging from £9000 and a client base that boasts A List celebrities such as Madonna and Kylie, viewers will be kept captivated by the Choccywoccydoodah team and their spectacular creations.
Already a popular baking star with South African audiences , BBC Lifestyle viewers can also look forward to seeing Master Pâtissier Eric Lanlard (Glamour Puds) in his exciting and aptly titled new show Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard. Eric’s new series, which begins on Sunday 18th June at 20:30 captures the increasingly fashionable trend of Baking Clubs in the UK. The 10 part series follows the Master Pâtissier as he invites Baking Club members in to his home and teaches them the tricks of quick, easy and delicious baking. Each programme will see Eric share his world-class skills and demonstrate how to perfect mouth watering cakes and desserts with ease and speed. Brand New Competition
Eric will also be acting as judge for the new Love Baking Competition opening on June 9th. Marking the launch of the Love Baking season, BBC Lifestyle is inviting its audiences to create and submit the ultimate original cupcake recipe. Entrants will have the opportunity to impress the celebrity baker with their culinary and artistic talents by creating the most dazzling and original cupcakes possible. The competition will be open from 9th June to residents of Africa* and will close on midnight 30th June. Applicants must be over 18, and need to provide an original recipe and method, describing how the cupcake was made and decorated, along with a picture of themselves and their fabulous creation. The winning cupcake will be made by Eric himself and shown on BBC Lifestyle as part of the Love Baking season**.
