BBC Worldwide is bringing ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ into the digital age with the global launch of WalkingwithDinosaurs.com, the ultimate website for dinosaur fans.

The launch forms the first phase of this iconic brands re-launch in 2013 as Walking with Dinosaurs gears up for a major motion picture release Walking with Dinosurs 3D in December 2013. The website is joined by new ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ social pages on Facebook and Twitter, two upcoming iOS apps and a Sony Wonderbook game for the PlayStation 3.
Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, A co-production between world-leading natural history storytellers BBC Earth, 3D pioneers Evergreen Films, and Reliance Entertainment is set to launch globally in cinemas on December 20, 2013. The film tells a thrilling story of families born and families torn apart, of growing up, rivalry and competition. Audiences will join our dinosaur characters on an epic adventure that will take them back 70 million years to see our world as it was when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The film uses the 3D expertise of Cameron l Pace Group and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox in the US and the majority of international territories.

WalkingwithDinosaurs.com, created by BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment and RED Interactive, provides fans with a plethora of interactive dino features including stand-out infographics that compare iconic dinosaurs to modern day reference points, news and feature articles, videos and the opportunity for visitors to pose their questions to resident palaeontologist, Steve Brusatte. At launch, the website features a stunning gallery of five fascinating dinosaurs with new species to be added continually.
There are several ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ apps in development which will be released over the coming months including an augmented reality app and an educational dinosaur encyclopaedia app, both for iOS devices. Dino fans will be able to own and interact with their own dinosaurs with Walking with Dinosaurs: Digisaurus, developed by Evergreen Films. The app includes two dinosaurs at launch (Utahraptor and T. Rex) and uses state-of-the-art animation and augmented reality to bring fearsome dinosaurs to life in the palm of your hand. More dinosaurs will be added periodically after launch later this year.
Walking with Dinosaurs: Inside their World, developed by M5859 Studio, is an interactive dinosaur encyclopedia for the iPad. The app contains more than 60 fully animated and interactive, photo realistic dinosaurs, narrated narration by UK actor Stephen Fry. Each page contains information that has been meticulously researched by expert palaeontologists, and every dinosaur has been design to create an unparalleled dinosaur experience on the iPad. Walking with Dinosaurs: Inside their World will launch for the iPad shortly with an Android version currently in development.
A ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ Sony Wonderbook game is currently in development with Supermassive Games and is slated for release later this year. The game uses augmented reality technology to transform the world around the player and bring them face to face with dinosaurs to experience their prehistoric world and discover how they lived and died.
