Amanda McGregor promoted to BBC Worldwide Australia’s First Director of Brands, Consumers and New Ventures

Amanda is currently the Director of Marketing for BBC Worldwide Australia and her new role will continue to oversee marketing, brand and consumer strategy for BBC Worldwide’s Australian group of businesses, but will take on additional responsibility for the commercial activity of its six global brands in territory (Top Gear, Dancing With The Stars, Doctor Who, Torchwood, BBC Earth and Lonely Planet) as well as developing other new areas of business.
This new role has been created to reflect the growing emphasis on brands in the business and it will include overseeing live events and gaming, two new and rapidly evolving areas of growth for BBC Worldwide’s global brands in territory. The two Heads of Commercial Services (Heather McIlfatrick and one to be recruited) will report to Amanda alongside her current team of 16.
In her new role Amanda will continue to report to Helen Kellie, BBC Worldwide’s global Chief Marketing Officer based in London, and Tony Iffland in territory, but will come under BBC Worldwide’s Brands, Consumers & New Ventures business division led by Managing Director Marcus Arthur.

One of Amanda’s first priorities will be to recruit a new Head of Commercial Services.
Amanda was appointed Director of Marketing, BBC Worldwide Australia in
July 2009. In this role she has been
responsible for: brand, marketing and marketing communications strategy
development; implementation, digital and relationship marketing; and audience
and consumer insight. She has also led the recent launch of the global BBC
iPlayer in Australia.
Amanda joined BBC Worldwide as Director of Marketing for its Channels business in February 2009. She developed and implemented the over arching marketing communications strategy for BBC Worldwide’s Australasian channels, which comprise: UKTV and UKTV NZ, BBC Knowledge and BBC Knowledge NZ, BBC World News and CBeebies.
Prior to joining BBC Worldwide, Amanda was Head of Marketing for the
Australia Network – the ABC’s international commercial channel broadcasting
into more than 44 countries across Asia, the Pacific and the Indian
Amanda moved to London from Australia in 2001 where she spent seven years with the BBC in a number of leadership marketing roles, including Head of Strategic Projects, BBC Vision where she lead the development of multi-channel and digital brand strategies for the BBC’s portfolio of eight television channels and led the consumer launch of BBC HD. She was also an integral part of the BBC Digital Marketing team (now Future Media and Technology) which launched and established Freeview as a leading television platform in the UK.
Before moving to London, Amanda’s roles included Sponsorship and Marketing Account Manager for the Sydney Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games (SOCOG) and National Advertising Manager at Rebel Sport Pty Ltd.
